Liebherr cranes prominent in Queensferry Crossing construction

Liebherr cranes have had an important part to play in the construction of the new Queensferry Crossing across Scotland’s Firth of Forth. Three Liebherr tower cranes were used to build the Crossing’s three towers with assistance from two Liebherr crawler cranes. Over ten different Liebherr mobile cranes types and products from three Liebherr divisions have been used over the life of the project. Most recently a 500 tonne and a 300 tonne crane Liebherr supplied to long-standing customer Bernard Hunter were used in its contract to dismantle the three Liebherr 630 EC-H 40 tower cranes. Liebherr puts innovative system into operation for final painting of crawler cranes

Liebherr-Werk Ehingen GmbH is currently putting a new system for the final painting of large crawler crane components into operation. This system corresponds to the latest requirements regarding environmental protection, occupational safety and paint application. Highly effective filters and systems for heat recovery are utilised here. Occupational safety and ergonomics are optimised by mobile work platforms and height securing devices. Liebherr has invested in the state-of-the-art for the technical application and process of paint coating along with the process data logging. Find out more

Liebherr LR 13000 crawler crane modernises Mexican oil refinery

As part of the energy reforms in Mexico, the "Miguel Hidalgo" oil refinery in Tula is being modernised. Mexican crane contractor ESEASA, carried out the hoisting work on behalf of construction contractor ICA Flour, using three Liebherr crawler cranes. They included the largest conventional crawler crane in the world, the LR 13000. When the work will be concluded by the end of 2018, the refinery will be able to produce up to 110,000 more barrels of pure petrol and diesel. Find out more

Liebherr crawler crane with 1000 tonnes load capacity now strongest lattice boom crane in Switzerland

Emil Egger AG, a transport and heavy haulage contractor based in Sankt Gallen, has been operating Switzerland's strongest crawler crane for several weeks. A Liebherr crawler crane LR 11000 has recently been supplied from the plant in Ehingen for its first job in Zurich. The 1000 tonne crane will be in service around six months there for the assembly of large reinforced concrete supports. Find out more

First Liebherr LTR 1220 Telescopic Crawler Crane for India

NCC Ltd. has taken delivery of a Liebherr LTR 1220 telescopic crawler crane, which is equipped with polyamide pads for operation on metro site. The crane is currently working on the Nagpur Metro project. In this project the crane hoists girders for the two new metro lines which have a total length of 38 km. Liebherr LR 11350 and LR 1750 crawler cranes complete tandem hoist to position a bridge in Manchester

As part of a major railway construction project in the North of England, the Scottish contractor Weldex uses two Liebherr crawler cranes to complete a central construction phase. In February both crawler cranes performed a tandem hoist for a 560-tonne arched bridge over the River Irwell in Manchester. The new railway bridge will link the city's Piccadilly and Victoria stations. Find out more

Gulf Haulage Heavy Lift Company erects the first wind turbine in Saudi Arabia using a Liebherr LR 1750 crawler crane

Heavy haulage and heavy lift contractor Gulf Haulage Heavy Lift Company (GHHL) has erected the first wind turbine in Saudi Arabia. A Liebherr LR 1750 crawler crane was used to erect the 84 metre tower, the 83 tonne nacelle and the 60 metre blades. The wind turbine in Turaif in the north-east of Saudi Arabia will generate power for a bulk plant facility operated by state oil company Saudi Aramco. Find out more

Liebherr LTR 1220 telescopic crawler crane builds water basins for innovative energy storage system

For several months the Max Bögl Group has been working on a smart concept to generate and store natural electricity in the north-east of Baden-Württemberg. A modern pump accumulator power plant is being built near Schwäbisch Hall along with four wind turbines with a total height of up to 240 metres, making them among the tallest in the world.
