18 new Liebherr cranes for ACT in Saudi Arabia

  • Arabian Consolidated Trading Est. (ACT) awards major contract to Liebherr
  • The Saudi Arabian company will take delivery of 18 new cranes with lifting capacities ranging from 100 to 150 tonnes
  • Long-term partnership, safety and after-sales service were key factors in ACT's decision

Arabian Consolidated Trading Est. has placed a major order with Liebherr: the Saudi Arabian crane and heavy haulage company ordered 18 new cranes in December 2023. The Liebherr subsidiary in Saudi Arabia, Saudi Liebherr Company Ltd, ensures a smooth partnership and reliable services.

The Saudi Arabian crane operator ACT enjoys a healthy, long-standing partnership with Liebherr. The company bought its first crane from Liebherr back in 1987 and now operates over 190 Liebherr cranes. Of great importance to the Saudi Arabian company is Liebherr's fast and reliable customer service, which ensures that crane downtimes are minimised. “With Liebherr cranes, we can be sure of generating a good return on our investment. That is, of course, important to us,” says Mohammed Hassan Al Naimi, CEO ACT Group.

The major order, which ACT has now placed with Liebherr, consists of three LRT 1100-2.1 rough-terrain cranes, and 15 all-terrain cranes, of which seven are LTM 1120-4.1 and eight are LTM 1150-5.3. “The LRT rough terrain cranes convinced us with their simplicity. They are self-explanatory and at the same time very safe to use,” says Mohammed Hassan Al Naimi, explaining the advantages of Liebherr rough terrain cranes. ACT also chose the LTM 1120-4.1 crane: the most powerful 4-axle crane on the market. The boom of this 120-tonne crane is also the longest in this crane class and has high lifting capacities. Thanks to VarioBase® and VarioBallast® the crane is also extremely flexible. In addition, ACT placed orders for a total of eight LTM 1150-5.3 machines. This flexible all-rounder can travel to the job site carrying most of its equipment, making it extremely economical and quick to deploy. Mohammed Hassan Al Naimi added: “An important factor for us is the longer 66-metre telescopic boom compared to the LTM 1160-5.2. The 150-tonne crane is the perfect addition to our fleet.”

ACT attaches great importance to high safety standards for its cranes, making Liebherr its ideal partner. One of the main application areas for the new cranes will be refineries, where high safety standards are required. ACT Arabian Consolidated Trading Est. has about 1,000 employees and operates a fleet of around 250 cranes. Headquartered in Jubail, the company has offices in Dubai, Riyadh, Dammam and Yanbu. The company's focus is on crane rental and operations in refinery maintenance and decommissioning.
