Liebherr commissions new machines for Northern Star Resources

Liebherr-Australia successfully commissioned eight machines in July 2025 for Northern Star Resources – one of the world’s leading gold producers – at two of its operations in Western Australia. These machines join the five PR 776 dozers delivered to Northern Star Resources in February 2025.

Liebherr-Australia contributes AU$50,000 to support breast cancer research

Members of Liebherr-Australia’s executive team travelled to Hancock Iron Ore’s Roy Hill mine in Western Australia to unveil a cheque for AU$50,000. These funds were donated to Australia’s National Breast Cancer Foundation and were based on the performance of an R 9800 at Roy Hill mine in the month of June.

Fortescue deploys Australia’s first operational electric excavator with the Liebherr R 9400 E

In December 2023, Liebherr-Australia commissioned an R 9400 E 400-tonne electric excavator for Fortescue at their Cloudbreak iron ore mining operation in Western Australia. This excavator represents the first newly built operational electric excavator in the country. The R 9400 E backhoe excavator is equipped with the Liebherr cable reeler, enabling increased maneuvrability and optimised safety on site.

Restored, not retired: Liebherr R 996 mining excavator overhauled for maximum service life

In late July, a fully refurbished R 996 excavator went to work at Yancoal’s Cameby Downs mine in Queensland, Australia. This machine had originally served at Yancoal’s Yarrabee mine for almost 13 years before the mining company made the decision to completely overhaul the machine.

The Liebherr R 9300 makes its Australian debut

The first Liebherr R 9300 mining excavator to hit Australian soil was commissioned in late August at the Karlawinda Gold Project, located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. MACA – a global contractor that works within the mining, construction, and process engineering sectors – is excited to welcome this machine to its growing Liebherr excavator fleet.
