Liebherr gear seminars worldwide
Liebherr has been offering specialist seminars for the gearing industry all over the world for over 20 years. The gear seminars are designed as a learning and networking platform for users, where Liebherr experts and speakers from universities and from the industry discuss practical topics and specific issues relating to gear technology. At the same time, they offer participants the opportunity to share their experiences.
“Liebherr-Verzahntechnik GmbH has not only equipped Van der Graaf with its superior gearing technology, but has also offered an added benefit in its gear seminars that goes far beyond the sum of the machines supplied.”
Whether you are an experienced gear manufacturer or new to the industry, a customer or a prospective customer – Liebherr-Verzahntechnik GmbH’s gear seminars offer exciting insights for all those who want to delve deeper into the subject matter or have specific questions from the field. Every two years in the USA and regularly in countries such as Japan, Italy, Turkey, India and Brazil, Liebherr’s experts work together with participants at the seminars on the very latest topics relating to all gearing technologies. Aspects relating to gear cutting such as tool design, measuring technology, the latest grinding materials and digitalization solutions are also discussed.
Concentrated expert knowledge around the globe
Professionally demanding and practically oriented
Originally conceived as a basic seminar on gear cutting, the format has now developed into a highly specialized expert forum with cutting-edge content and a valuable opportunity to share ideas within the community. Dr. Oliver Winkel, Head of Application Technology at Liebherr-Verzahntechnik GmbH, explains: “Our gear seminars are not sales events. Rather, we have the clear aim of providing our participants with knowledge and information that they can implement in their respective applications. We also offer technologically sophisticated, user-oriented presentations on current developments and special topics – using Liebherr technologies and machines, of course, but always with a focus on specific practical examples.”
“I found the presentation on electric drives and the quality requirements for the finishing of gears particularly useful. I‘m looking forward to the next invitation!”
Learning and networking platform
Equally important is the dialog between experts and users. The seminars usually last two days. During dinner together and also during the breaks, there is room for expert discussions and networking. “Specific questions and problems from the field are discussed intensively here, and there is not only an interchange between customers and Liebherr experts, but also between the customers themselves,” reports Dr. Andreas Mehr, expert for gear grinding and shaping at Liebherr-Verzahntechnik GmbH. “In a small industry like gear technology, this is enormously helpful, which is why we attach great importance to it.”
Andreas Heider, Head of Product Sales for Gear Cutting Machines, adds: “We know all our customers personally. That is why it is always important for us to know which questions and topics are currently on their minds. As experts, we give the technological presentations at the seminars and the customers learn from us. Conversely, we learn a lot from interacting with our customers. This creates trust. The face-to-face format of the gear seminars really provides the space for this.”
“Valuable and helpful knowledge about new technologies and machines in the gearing industry as well as the latest developments and requirements: I‘m looking forward to the next installment!“
Large number of participants
There is a broad range of participants at the gear seminars: from industry newcomers to experienced experts, from machine operators to company owners – regardless of position or level of experience and knowledge, the opportunity to continue learning is gladly taken. “The number of participants speaks for itself: the seminars are popular and are well received everywhere because they always deal with cutting-edge, user-oriented topics,” summarizes Oliver Winkel. The next gear seminar is already planned for November 2024 in Taiwan, and in 2025 it will be the turn of the US again. Other countries are being considered.
