The Opportunity:
This role will be critical in the design, implementation and maintenance of our onboard autonomy systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise and a passion for developing high-quality software solutions. In this role, you will collaborate with a global team, working across multiple time zones, to ensure products meet technical specifications and are delivered within projected milestones.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and optimize C++ software for AHS onboard systems, ensuring functional and performance excellence.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Mechanical, Hydraulic, Electrical) to create control system software specifications that support autonomous haul truck operations.
- Provide expert engineering support to ensure AHS software meets reliability, functionality, and cost objectives.
- Represent the AHS team in customer meetings to review system development, performance, reliability, and availability.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks associated with AHS design and functionality.
- Assist the broader AHS project team as needed, contributing to various aspects of system development and deployment.
Education and Experience
- Proficient in C++ software development.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field (BSEE, BSCE).
- 5+ years of experience in programming and software development within an engineering environment.
- Proven experience in developing embedded or onboard software for autonomous or robotics systems is highly desirable.
- The ability to travel internationally is required.
