Productive in Canada: The Liebherr crawler excavator R 946 impresses at Transport Camille Dionne 1991 Inc.
- The Liebherr R 946: productive, reliable and easy to transport
- High performances with low fuel consumption
- Transport Camille Dionne uses the crawler excavator for diverse applications
The Canadian transport and rental machine company Transport Camille Dionne 1991 Inc. decided in favour of a Liebherr crawler excavator R 946. The customer is satisfied. As of to date the company has worked over 600 operating hours with the excavator. The machine, which was manufactured in Colmar, France, demonstrates high reliability, optimal productivity and low fuel consumption.
The company Transport Camille Dionne 1991 Inc. from Quebec (Canada) operates on various construction sites and therefore requires a machine that is diverse and easy to transport. The Liebherr crawler excavator R 946 with an operating weight of approx. 40 tonnes was precisely the right model for these requirements, according to Jean-Yves Gauthier, Managing Director of Transport Camille Dionne. "The technical properties of the Liebherr crawler excavator not only look good on paper. The excavator is also extremely reliable in practice", explains the Managing Director, when asked about why he decided for this particular manufacturer.
The R 946: efficient and reliable
The company uses the crawler excavator with a 2m³ backhoe bucket. This way a remarkable production capacity of 275m³ per hour is achieved. With fuel consumption of just 22 litres per hour, the R 946 also proves extremely economical in use. Jean-Yves Gauthier is satisfied with the fuel consumption of the crawler excavator, both per working hour and per tonne of moved material.
The Liebherr crawler excavator delivers maximum power thanks to quick, fluid movements. The manufacturing factory, Liebherr-France SAS, achieves this through efficient interaction of the integrated systems. This is possible thanks to the high proportion of components manufactured in-house. For instance, the Positive Control hydraulic system, the Stage IIIB / Tier 4i diesel engine and the electronics developed by Liebherr and optimally coordinated from scratch.
The daily service activities and checks should be easy to perform for the machine driver. For the design of the crawler excavator, right from the start Liebherr paid attention to designing the machine as simple and concise as possible, as well as improving accessibility. Checking levels, for example engine oil, is possible from the display in the cab. And through the use of an automatic central lubrication system, valuable working time can be saved and, at the same time, an optimal operating state of the machine can be guaranteed.

Jean-Yves Gauthier, arrived in 2001, undertook a comprehensive restructuring of the company including a renewal of 2/3 of equipment and expansion of activities to the sale of used equipments. In 2008, Transport Camille Dionne 1991 Inc. has joined a family business in the forestry sector to create the entity "Crushing DLR", specialized in the crushing and recycling of concrete and bituminous mix.
"Today we employ around 70 people and operate in Quebec primarily in the areas of structural engineering, forestry, mining and quarrying, as well as in earthmoving and civil engineering", adds Jean-Yves Gauthier.
