Liebherr presents LiReCon remote control system at Bauma 2025
- Revolutionary LiReCon teleoperation system enables precise remote control of construction machinery from a safe distance
- Live demonstration with R 926 G8 crawler excavator and PR 726 G8 crawler dozer at the trade show
- Unique real-time control of a tower crane from a distance of around 200 km
- Increased work safety and machine efficiency thanks to innovative sensor technology and fast operator changes
At Bauma 2025, Liebherr will be demonstrating a new era in the operation of construction machinery: the Liebherr Remote Control System (LiReCon). The earthmoving and tower crane product segments will be demonstrating the practical application of this technology using a crawler excavator, a crawler dozer and a tower crane.
The LiReCon system consists of a state-of-the-art teleoperation stand equipped with the latest control technology. Several cameras provide real-time images from different perspectives, while microphones transmit the machine sounds. This comprehensive sensor technology enables machine operators to precisely control the construction machinery from a safe distance.
Revolutionary remote control technology for increased safety
The technology offers significant advantages for construction sites: Not only does it increase operator safety in high-risk environments, it also increases machine efficiency through faster shift changes and reduces downtime. LiReCon can also be used to access areas that would be too dangerous for direct on-site operation.
LiReCon makes it possible to modernise the workplace for machine operators. As an alternative to the operator’s cab or crane cab, the LiReCon operator’s platform can offer new opportunities in terms of social contact. Another advantage of the new remote control technology is its efficiency on construction sites: The real-time images from different perspectives provide machine operators with more information, and operating multiple machines ensures greater efficiency. The new machine control system also simplifies communication between the machine operator and the foreman with regard to site logistics.
Live demonstration with state-of-the-art construction machinery
As part of a dynamic showcase, Liebherr will be demonstrating the performance of the system using two earthmoving machines and a tower crane: The PR 726 G8 crawler dozer and the R 926 G8 crawler excavator in the outdoor area of the main Liebherr booth will be remotely controlled live from the operator's platform in the InnovationLab. The R 926 G8, which is manufactured at the Colmar plant in France, impresses with an output of 150 kW / 204 hp and an operating weight of 28 tonnes. The machine is also equipped with a Leica control system, which ensures greater efficiency and precision on the construction site.
As a special highlight, a tower crane, which is located in a practical test site near Biberach a.d. Riß, will be controlled in real time from the trade show. The crane, a 240 EC-B Fibre with an innovative fibre rope, is just under 200 kilometres away from the Messe München site and the operator's platform in the InnovationLab. This live demonstration emphasises the versatility and reliability of LiReCon technology, even over long distances.
Visitors to Bauma 2025 can experience the live demonstrations directly at the Liebherr stand and see the advantages of the remote control system for themselves.
