Creating Passion: Your Responsibilities

Supplier Quality Management:

  • Develop and implement supplier quality management processes specifically for welding and machining components.
  • Conduct supplier audits and assessments to evaluate capabilities in welding and machining processes.
  • Establish and maintain quality performance metrics for suppliers, focusing on welding and machining accuracy, defect rates, and adherence to specifications.

Supplier Selection and Qualification:

  • Collaborate with the procurement team to identify and select suppliers specializing in welding and machining.
  • Lead the supplier qualification process, including initial capability assessments, quality system audits, and process validations.
  • Ensure selected suppliers have the necessary certifications, such as ISO 9001, AWS (American Welding Society) standards, and other relevant welding and machining certifications.

Supplier Development and Improvement:

  • Work with suppliers to improve their welding and machining processes to meet quality standards.
  • Facilitate training programs for suppliers to enhance their capabilities in welding and machining.
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address supplier-related quality issues and ensure continuous improvement.

Quality Assurance and Control:

  • Develop and enforce incoming inspection criteria for welded and machined components.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of incoming welded and machined parts through inspections, tests, and audits.
  • Coordinate with engineering and production teams to resolve quality issues related to supplier components.

Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis:

  • Lead cross-functional teams in conducting root cause analysis for welding and machining-related quality issues.
  • Implement corrective actions and verify their effectiveness in resolving quality problems.
  • Utilize quality tools such as 8D, FMEA, and Six Sigma methodologies to identify and address quality issues.

Supplier Quality Metrics and Reporting:

  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to track supplier quality performance.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as defect rates, response times, and improvement actions.
  • Present supplier quality performance data to senior management and recommend improvement actions.

Regulatory Compliance and Standards:

  • Ensure supplier compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies related to welding and machining.
  • Stay updated on relevant industry standards and regulations, such as ISO, AWS, and other machining standards.
  • Ensure suppliers adhere to safety and environmental regulations specific to welding and machining operations.

Cost Management and Optimization:

  • Work with suppliers to identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality standards in welding and machining.
  • Analyze cost implications of quality issues and work towards reducing the cost of poor quality (COPQ).
  • Negotiate quality-related terms and conditions with suppliers to optimize costs and improve quality.

New Product Introduction (NPI):

  • Support the New Product Introduction process by ensuring supplier readiness for new welding and machining projects.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of quality welded and machined components for new product launches.
  • Validate and approve supplier processes, materials, and components for new products.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, production, and quality teams to ensure alignment on quality objectives and requirements.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination between internal teams and suppliers to address quality-related issues.
  • Support cross-functional projects aimed at improving supplier quality and overall product quality.

Risk Management:

  • Identify potential risks in the supplier quality management process related to welding and machining.
  • Develop mitigation plans to address these risks and ensure supplier quality.
  • Implement risk assessment and management strategies to minimize the impact of supplier-related quality issues.

Training and Development:

  • Provide training and support to internal teams on supplier quality management processes and best practices for welding and machining.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for suppliers to enhance their quality capabilities in welding and machining.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in welding and machining quality management.

Contributing Your Strengths: Your Qualifications

Qualification and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Certification in Quality Management (e.g., Six Sigma, ASQ Certified Quality Engineer) is preferred.
  • Additional certifications related to welding (e.g., AWS Certified Welding Inspector) and machining are highly desirable.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 05 - 07 Years of experience in supplier quality management, with a focus on welding and machining, in the manufacturing industry.
  • Proven experience in the tower crane manufacturing industry or heavy fabrication steel component manufacturing.
  • Experience in conducting supplier audits, quality assessments, and implementing quality improvement initiatives for welding and machining processes.

Preferred Skills / Special Skills:

  • Technical Expertise:
    • In-depth knowledge of welding processes, standards (e.g., AWS, ISO), and quality control methods.
    • Strong understanding of machining processes, including CNC machining, precision machining, and quality assurance.
    • Proficiency in quality tools and techniques such as FMEA, SPC, 8D, and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
    • Ability to analyze complex quality issues in welding and machining and implement data-driven solutions.
    • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement and preventive actions.
  • Leadership and Communication Skills:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
    • Strong leadership and project management skills to drive quality improvement initiatives.
    • Ability to effectively communicate quality standards and expectations to suppliers and internal teams.
  • Continuous Improvement Focus:
    • Strong commitment to continuous improvement and quality excellence in welding and machining.
    • Ability to identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and product quality.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements related to welding and machining.
    • Experience in ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations specific to welding and machining.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in quality management software and ERP systems.
    • Understanding of welding and machining equipment, techniques, and inspection methods.
    • Familiarity with NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) methods and their application in welding and machining quality assurance.
  • Risk Management:
    • Ability to identify potential risks in welding and machining processes and develop effective mitigation plans.
    • Strong focus on risk assessment and management strategies to ensure supplier quality.
