Liebherr-Transportation Systems will supply Siemens AG, Krefeld-Uerdingen (Germany) with 50 compact driver's cabin air conditioning systems as well as 150 passenger compartment air conditioning systems for 25 six-part Desiro City electric multiple units Class 717 which will be operated in Great Britain. The air conditioning equipment should be delivered by September 2018. The Class 717 trains will replace the Class 313 trains which are over 40 years old.
The new Desiro City trains are manufactured for Great Northern, which will operate them on the line to and from Moorgate. The design will be in a similar style to the Thameslink and South West Train trains currently to be delivered.
