Turning old into new: Liebherr wheel loaders in recycling
RGS Nordic in Denmark recycles construction and demolition waste material into reusable and sustainable products. 40 Liebherr wheel loaders are required to process the 1000 truckloads plus that arrive at RGS Nordic on a daily basis.
RGS Nordic specialises in the recycling of construction and demolition waste materials and is the market leader in Denmark in this field. A total of around 130 construction machines are in use for RGS Nordic, around two thirds of which come from the Liebherr Group. Among them are 40 XPower wheel loaders of various sizes.
The Liebherr wheel loaders play a key role here as central handling machines. On the one hand, they take the bulky waste pre-sorted by the Liebherr excavators to the sorting plants, and on the other hand, the wheel loaders feed the numerous crushing and screening plants with various types of building waste. At the end of the treatment process, the recycled material is reused as building material on the construction sites around Copenhagen.
RGS Nordic also returns the partly contaminated waste material to the product cycle through a special process. Adding substances, such as calcium, and constantly turning the piles of earth using Liebherr wheel loaders ensures an optimal oxygen supply during composting. Once this process is complete, the XPowers load the recycled material onto trucks. RGS Nordic's customers then use this valuable natural raw material instead of new building material on numerous construction sites.
The Liebherr wheel loaders need less fuel, are powerful and have hardly any downtime. We are particularly impressed that we achieve 30% more productivity with the same fuel consumption than that of comparable wheel loaders in this size class.
