Liebherr at the OTC 2016 in Houston (USA)

Also this year, the Liebherr Group presents itself with two divisions at the international Offshore Technology Conference (OTC). This is one of the biggest offshore conferences worldwide, which takes place in Houston (USA) from May 2 - 5, 2016.

In the "German Pavilion" on stand 4527, the Liebherr Maritime Cranes division is presenting its comprehensive product-portfolio as well as its competencies as a global market leader in the offshore crane segment. This year's highlight is the Liebherr crane simulator LiSIM, which simulates the board offshore crane type, BOS 4200. Due to the compact and function-orientated design the BOS cranes are the premium products in the offshore crane segment.

With its crane control by Liebherr the LiSIM allows intensive training for crane drivers. In this way, safety as well as productivity can be further enhanced. Also cost-efficiency can be improved during everyday use. Such training is the basis for all crane operators at Liebherr. The LiSIM simulators are available in various models – from the compact version to the “conventional” cabin solutions and the fully-equipped 40ft container model.

The Components division of the Liebherr Group is also presenting its wide range of products from the areas of gearboxes, large diameter bearings and hydraulics. The high-performance components and system solutions by Liebherr are suitable for a wide range of maritime applications such as cranes, ship propulsion systems and special equipment, for example in pipe-laying ships or jack-up platforms. The range is completed by comprehensive engineering and after-sales services.

One focal point at the exhibition will be the presentation of application-specific solutions for propulsion and lifting systems, for example, the DAT 1000. This is the largest slewing drive that Liebherr has developed and manufactured so far. It has a maximum dynamic output torque of 620,000Nm and finds its specific application in heavy-duty offshore-cranes as a slewing mechanism.

A combination of both ball and roller bearing elements in a slewing ring exemplifies the broad portfolio of large diameter bearings by Liebherr. Moreover, various possibilities for surface protection will be shown at the Components' stand. For reliable protection against corrosion and increased wear under rough maritime conditions, Liebherr additionally offers special sealing systems.
