Liebherr Academy in South Africa is top of the class!

Founded in 1958, Liebherr Africa, the second Liebherr company to be founded outside of Germany has continued to refine its apprenticeship program since the early nineties. Reacting to a shortage of skilled technical artisans in the country, the management team in South Africa began training sessions in accordance with the high standards set by the Liebherr Group.

Today the program schools approx. fifty apprentices at a time and provides a combination of practical and technical training. Encouraged to work independently in their final year, the apprentices also participate in theoretical workshops in various modules.

The company focuses on the trades Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic and Automotive Electrician with trainers noting and rewarding individual performance and working flexibly with talented students.

The success of the program led to the founding of the Liebherr Training Academy, training 543 learners with an investment of over 20 million South African Rand in this project over the past seven years. The courses which covered a wide variety of disciplines enabled students to enter gainful employment across the industry.
