Tool Room MRO Specialist - 2nd Shift and Weekend ShiftNewport News, VA
The Tool Room MRO Specialist is responsible for managing all activities assigned to the tool room and its designated satellite locations. These activities include stocking and inventory control of MRO purchased items, managing the metrology and rigging equipment programs, and special tool custody control.
Note: This position is the weekend shift: Friday - Sunday, 6 am to 6 pm ET.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates with Manufacturing Department Managers, Supervisors, and Leads to establishinventories of MRO items supporting their departments, to include establishing and maintaining min/max and reorder points for MRO items.
- Conducts periodic inventories, using cycle counting, to control MRO stocking levels in the tool room and designated satellite locations within established parameters.
- Maintains the company Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) & Grainger “track” systems for the stocking and inventory control of MRO purchased items required to support production and maintenance.
- Recommends the disposal of obsolete, damaged, or defective stock.
- Coordinates with established vendors as necessary to accomplish assigned Tool Room MRO
- Specialist duties such as placing orders, arranging deliveries, adjusting stocking quantities, etc.
- Responsible for distribution and tracking of all metrology items, including their timely transfer to, and return from, the calibration vendor. Responsible for the distribution, coordination of maintenance, and tracking of all rigging, slings, chains, and other related lifting equipment, including their periodic transfer to, and return from, the inspection and testing vendor.
- Develops Department reports on usages and costs; capable of recommending cost saving improvements.
- Investigates and resolves related shipping and receiving discrepancies.
- Coordinates with Tool Room MRO Specialist on other shift(s).
- Coordinates supply distribution and associated billing issues with other Liebherr divisions who access the tool room inventory.
- May be required to make minor repairs to hand tools such as pneumatic and electric needle guns, grinders and other such equipment.
Competencies
- Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years related experience in a manufacturing and/or tool room environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.
- Knowledge of and ability to navigate through the appropriate applications, i.e. MS Office Products, Inventory software and Order processing systems.
- Knowledge of Metric and Standard Systems and conversions.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and good housekeeping practices.
- Knowledge of the safe operation of basic power tools, i.e. saws, drill motors air compressors.
- Skilled in basic keyboarding.
- Skilled in reading basic tools of measurements, i.e. tape measure, calipers etc.
- Ability to read and interpret Liebherr Employee Rules and Regulations, company safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, production and customer sales orders.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and compute rate, ratio, and percent.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering diagrams and drawings.
- Ability to maintain Forklift Certification.
- Ability to operate Overhead Crane.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
