Warehouse Operations Supervisor - 1st and 2nd ShiftNewport News, VA
The Warehouse Operations Supervisor(s) coordinates, plans, monitors, and tracks all activities of the warehouse. They are expected to be knowledgeable in all warehouse operations activities and are responsible for assigning workloads, training, and evaluating the performance of all warehouse operations employees.
*This is a 2nd shift position. The hours are: 2:30 pm ET - 11:30 pm ET.*
Responsibilities
- Assists the Warehouse Operations Manager and Divisional Parts Managers with balancing the workflow.
- Assists the Warehouse Operations Manager with devising/implementing standard operating procedures across all functions of the warehouse when applicable.
- Supervises, maintains, and assures the proper use of the company Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system by all warehouse operations employees for the transaction of sales, purchase receipts, storage locations, shipping, and re-distribution requirements.
- Provides support to all warehouse operations employees by answering questions, providing instructions, and advising on all phases of warehouse operations.
- Supervises the physical and documentation flow of products within the warehouse regarding all processes related to general inventory integrity and efficiency.
- Supervises the checks of incoming shipments against the Bills of Lading/packing list for accuracy of piece count and condition, noting any corrections or changes on Bills of Lading ensuring the driver has signed, acknowledging discrepancies and/or damages.
- Supervises the checks of outbound shipments against the Bills of Lading/packing list for accuracy of piece count and condition, tracking any corrections or changes.
- Trains employees in all areas including the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, Liebherr products, material handling equipment (MHE) and cranes.
- Ensures the accuracy and quality of information on all warehouse operations documents.
- Investigates, resolves, and coordinates shipping, stocking, and receiving discrepancies.
- Tracks, monitors, and addresses error rates by individual warehouse operations employees and as a group.
- Monitor and maintain department KPI’s based on warehouse service agreement.
- Promotes a safe and healthy work environment as demonstrated in your own work habits.
- Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met.
- Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Responsible for establishing and upholding 6S standards in the warehouse.
- Oversees proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials, when applicable.
- Supervisory Duties:
- Serves as the immediate point of contact for warehouse operations.
- Suggests and implements changes that would improve department efficiency and/or working conditions.
- Directly supervises the Warehouse Operations Leads and Warehouse Operations Associates (10-15).
- Responsible for the overall immediate supervision, coordination, and evaluation of the Warehouse Operations team.
- Fulfills supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities to include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Competencies
- Education and Experience: Associates or Technical degree with 3 years of related experience or a combination of education and experience equivalent to 5 or more years.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.
- Knowledge of Internet software; Inventory software; Timekeeping systems; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
- Knowledge of Metric and Standard Systems and conversions.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and good housekeeping practices.
- Knowledge of the safe operation of basic power tools, i.e., saws, drill motors air compressors.
- Skilled in basic keyboarding.
- Skilled in reading basic tools of measurements, i.e., tape measure, calipers etc.
- Ability to read and interpret Liebherr Employee Rules and Regulations, company safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, production, and customer sales orders.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering diagrams and drawings.
- Ability to train employees.
- Ability to analyze data and reports to support decision making.
- Trained in the safe operation of power equipment i.e., counterbalance fork trucks, order pickers, and rack loaders.
- Willingness to respond to general inquiries or complaints with urgency via phone, email, or in person communication.
- Ability to effectively present information to all levels of audiences.
- Ability to lead assignments/tasks through to completion with minimal supervision.
- Travel domestically up to 5% of the time.
- Ability to maintain forklift and crane certification.
- Ability to work on call and weekends when required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver license.
