Haul Truck Systems InstructorNewport News, VA
The Haul Truck Operator Trainer designs, develops, creates, and presents both classroom and On-theJob Training classes while evaluating technical training courses and materials using the Instructional Systems Design (ISD) process.
Responsibilities
- Conducts Haul Truck operator training.
- Operates Liebherr Haul Truck in safe manner in varying mine site conditions.
- Observes, monitors, and provides direction/feedback to operator students while operating on Liebherr Haul truck (i.e. during students operating truck under Operator trainer’s supervision).
- Conducts formal classroom instruction.
- Sets-up training classrooms, prepares class materials; assists students with concepts, assignments and class projects as necessary.
- Collaborates with Instructional Systems designer (course developer) to determine content sequence and creates content outlines and treatment approaches for written, visual, and audio content.
- Identifies and plans appropriate instructional design strategies and objectives based on analysis of tasks, learners, and subject matter.
- Develops technical training courses and related materials such as workbooks, manuals, and instructor guides.
- Provides students with special individualized instruction (SIA) as required.
- Coordinates with instructional writers during preliminary project discussions to ensure appropriate content development.
- Advises and assists Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) on instructional objectives and design.
- Conducts training needs analyses and determines performance criteria.
- Provides a communication link between the customer and the Regional Customer Support Manager to help ensure that effective service is provided to the customer.
- Conducts training on safe operation of the equipment and demonstrates skills to customer Operations and Maintenance personnel.
Competencies
- Education and Experience: Associate's (A.A.S.) related degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or five (5) years related experience and/or training in equipment operations, repair and maintenance of heavy
- mining equipment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven technical experience in the heavy equipment industry with in a training/instructor role.
- Knowledge of Outlook software, Excel Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic drawings and schematics.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Travel domestically and internationally 30% of the time for 2-5 weeks in duration.
- Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license and passport.
- Ability to maintain Mine Safety & Health Administration certification.
