Liebherr Wheel Loaders: the highest level of performance
The Liebherr wheel loader range continues to develop and is ideally prepared to meet the specific requirements of a wide range of industrial sectors. Currently, Liebherr offers various wheel loaders in different size classes. These reliable and efficient machines are particularly impressive due to their high level of productivity and versatility. The modern wheel loaders are designed down to the smallest detail for comfort, safety and ease of maintenance.
The Liebherr wheel loader assistance systems
The intelligent assistance systems for Liebherr wheel loaders help operators in their daily work. Examples include active personnel detection at the rear, the new joystick steering and the integrated tyre pressure monitoring system. With these and other assistance systems Liebherr offers integral solutions to optimise safety and comfort and to increase performance.
Application-optimised lift arm versions
The standard z-bar kinematics offers high torque in the lower lift arm range. The ideal outcome for conventional wheel loader use is easy and fast filling of the bucket which results in high material handling performance.
Alternatively, industrial lift arms are available for the L 550 – L 566 XPower and L 580 XPower wheel loaders. These kinematic versions offer a particularly high torque in the upper lift arm range and are therefore the best solution for industrial use.
Impressive across the board
For generations Liebherr has been providing innovative and creative solutions to the highest quality standards. The group’s many years of expertise are evident in the smallest detail in each of its products. This knowledge and experience enable Liebherr to offer its customers a high degree of efficiency and productivity in every area of application.
Timber handling
The right machine is always available for specific uses such as transporting and loading logs, wood chips and wood shavings or loading, debarking and sorting plants. This increases the utilisation of the machine and increases productivity.
The L 580 LogHandler XPower was specially developed by Liebherr for the diverse requirements of the timber industry. The L 580 XPower LogHandler can cover large areas with special lift arms which have been reinforced for this purpose and which offer a maximum reach of almost four metres. As with the current Liebherr large wheel loaders, the heart of the machine is the power-split XPower driveline.
Waste management
On the Liebherr L 526 – L 566 XPower and L 580 XPower wheel loaders, you can choose between industrial/parallel and z-bar kinematics. The wheel loaders are therefore particularly versatile and universally applicable. Their enormous retaining forces in the upper lift arm area make the parallel – as well as the industrial kinematics – particularly suitable for industrial applications with heavy equipment. The right machine is always available for specific applications such as loading and compacting bulk goods in high-walking-floor containers. This increases the utilisation of the machine and thus increases productivity.
Scrap handling
Even under the toughest conditions Liebherr wheel loaders meet the high Liebherr quality standards through the use of in-house manufactured – perfectly matched – components, . Specific tasks, such as transporting and loading scrap steel and metal, or loading shredder systems, are performed by Liebherr wheel loaders to the highest degree.
Tunnel construction
Tunnel construction is a specialist civil engineering discipline and is one of the most demanding areas of application for construction machines. The Liebherr group has a diverse range of machines in its product portfolio that work productively under the extreme conditions of a tunnel construction site. The tunnel package for Liebherr wheel loaders contains many specific details in order to guarantee a high level of durability and safety for tunnel use.

Leading waste and water management company, Veolia has two Liebherr L 556 XPower wheel loaders in operation at the Resource Recovery Division in New South Wales. With an average fuel consumption of 11.9 litres and each machine pushing approximately 150 tonnes of waste per hour, Operations Manager Justin Houghton praises the unrivalled performance. Combined with the productivity, the Liebherr-XPower driveline with Liebherr-Power-Efficiency (LPE) reduces environmental impact and operating costs.
What sets the Liebherr wheel loaders apart:
POWER
Liebherr wheel loaders are particularly versatile and can be used universally thanks to the selection of kinematics. Liebherr installs heavy components, such as the engine, at the rear. This shifts the centre of gravity behind the rear axle of the wheel loader so that there is no need for additional ballast. This ideal weight distribution leads to high tipping loads and higher handling output per operating hour.
What sets the Liebherr wheel loaders apart:
FUEL EFFICIENCY
The Liebherr XPower travel drive with Liebherr Power Efficiency (LPE) provides a fuel reduction of up to 30%. LPE optimises the interaction of the diesel engine, transmission and working hydraulics for maximum efficiency. In addition, there is minimal tyre wear and almost no brake wear.
What sets the Liebherr wheel loaders apart:
ROBUSTNESS
The components of the proven Liebherr travel drives are extremely robust and powerful. This ensures a long service life for the machine, which operates reliably even under the most demanding operating conditions.
Liebherr continues to develop and build key components itself, or in cooperation with premium manufacturers, to ensure the high quality of the components used.
What sets the Liebherr wheel loaders apart:
COMFORT
The optimal and re-developed cab design make it possible to work comfortably and productively. The spacious windows in the cab offer outstanding all-round vision of the working attachment and operating area.
What sets the Liebherr wheel loaders apart:
EASE OF MAINTENANCE
Daily maintenance points can be safely and conveniently reached from the ground. The entire engine compartment can be accessed by opening just one hood. A quick and safe check saves time and money.

Liebherr restores a 60-year-old wheel loader prototype: The LSL 1500
Almost 60 years after its début, Liebherr has restored one of the first wheel loader prototypes from the corporate group’s early years: the LSL 1500. This specimen is the oldest preserved Liebherr wheel loader in existence. Liebherr has invested about 650 working hours in the restoration of the vintage loader which is now used as an exhibition piece in the Liebherr Bischofshofen factory.
