Cutting back trees and embankments in the Allgäu
The cutting season started in Leutkirch in the Allgäu, Swabia at the end of October, which is when roads and forest tracks are cleared and problem trees are felled.

The recycling centre in Leutkirch in the Allgäu in Swabia, is managed by brothers Andreas and Thomas Mayer together with their cousin, Jürgen Mayer. The company has two sites and has been a loyal Liebherr customer for many generations over a period of around 35 years.
Several Liebherr machines are in action at Leutkirch recycling centre providing great support. They are a great help in the recycling process, sorting waste timber and compost and handling other recyclable materials.
The cutting season takes place from October to February. As a result of the Federal Nature Protection Act in Germany, maintenance and cutting of hedges and trees on roads and forest tracks can only be carried out during this period.
Busy routes, such as the road between Leutkirch and Herlazhofen, require the cutting and pruning work on trees to be carried out swiftly and, above all, safely, so as not to hold up the flow of traffic for any significant time.
Due to the good working relationship between the Town of Leutkirch and the recycling centre, the decision was made to seek a solution together. This was when Liebherr-Hydraulikbagger GmbH came onto the scene and the perfect solution was found after a short period of joint deliberation.
We decided on the LH 26 M because it fits precisely into our range of services. We use the handling machine for waste timber handling, recycling and for compost. It is also used now and again for tree felling work

The solution: The LH 26 M Industry
The LH 26 M Industry, a mobile Liebherr handling machine which features a sturdy, compact design, was selected to carry out the job at the site. Equipped with a LIKUFIX quick coupling system and an array of attachments from Liebherr and Westtech, the machine is perfectly suited to carry out accurate, fast pruning on embankments and trees from a safe distance.
Perfect collaboration between the machine operator and the Town of Leutkirch meant that the tree care work on the road was carried out smoothly using the powerful LH 26 M. The LIKUFIX quick coupling system meant that the best attachments for the job, such as the Liebherr stick extension, could be changed quickly and safely without leaving the cab. This, in turn, meant that even the most remote branches could be pruned successfully. During the cutting work, the road from the town was closed to prevent through traffic and ensure that the work could be carried out safely.
After the cuttings had been cleared from the road by the council workers, they were loaded onto the company’s own truck by the LH 26 M and a Liebherr sorting grab (SG 25) and then transported to the recycling centre, from where they were sent for processing and recycling.
The versatility of the machine was the main selling point for our customer, Andreas Mayer: “We decided on the LH 26 M because it fits precisely into our range of services. We use the machine for waste timber handling, recycling and for composting. It is also used now and again for tree felling work”
