Hundreds of thousands of articles – countless options
Liebherr-Logistics GmbH started operations at the new logistics centre at Kirchdorf / Oberopfingen (Germany) in 2015. This logistics centre is technically state of the art and boasts a level of automation for order picking well over 90%. Logistics 4.0 is taken seriously and practised at the location. Every spare part is given a barcode when it enters the warehouse, allowing it to be efficiently tracked, located and distributed. Huge rows of shelves are filled with 100,000 different articles covering the spare parts requirements of current products and of products that have been on the market for a long time.
The warehouse has a height of 20 metres and is filled with shelves that are loaded by industrial forklifts. Every spare part is weighed, measured and photographed. If required, special packaging is defined that is matched exactly to the spare part. Special boxes and wooden crates for heavy objects are selected locally to guarantee the best possible security and quality for the delivery. The development plans for the site, which is located right next to the A7 motorway, include the possible expansion to a total of approximately 200,000 m² to ensure that spare parts are punctually supplied in the decades ahead. The customer is able to choose from a wide range of delivery services.
