Liebherr delivers dozers for Mines Up
On 18 December 2023, Liebherr Mining commissioned the first five PR 776 dozers of a total of eight to be supplied to Mines Up under a substantial equipment deal signed by the two companies in 2022. The five PR 776s will go to work at the Tavan Tolgoi coking coal mine in Mongolia – one of the largest coal deposits in the world.
Mines Up – a subsidiary of Monnis International – is a large industrial equipment and technology supplier in the Mongolian mining industry and has been an official Liebherr equipment dealer in the region for more than 20 years. The newly commissioned PR 776s will go to work for one of Mines Up’s long-term customers, Erdenes Tavan Tolgoi (ETT), a joint stock mining company in Mongolia. ETT owns the Tavan Tolgoi mine, located in Mongolia’s Ömnögovi province. The five PR 776s will join ETT’s existing Liebherr fleet at Tavan Tolgoi, comprised of a range of hydraulic excavators – including two R 9200s, two R 9100s, an R 996, and an R 9350 – as well as a PR 764 dozer.
“We’ve been impressed with the performance of the equipment already on site and are excited to have more Liebherr machines join our fleet,” says Ch Altanbagana, Head of Mining for ETT. “We’re sure that we have made right decision by choosing Liebherr mining machinery.”
Service Excellence in Mongolia
ETT’s Liebherr fleet at Tavan Tolgoi, as well as those on different mine sites throughout Mongolia, are all supported by Mines Up’s Ulaanbaatar and Gobi branch service centres and the outstanding OEM-trained engineers and technicians that work within these facilities.
“Because Mines Up is our official dealer in Mongolia, its service centres are subject to the same strict quality standards that all Liebherr sales and service centres adhere to,” says Heath Collins, Service Excellence Team Leader for Liebherr Mining. “In fact, Mines Up’s service centres are part of Liebherr Mining’s Service Excellence Program, which aims to ensure our customers all over the world receive the same level of support for their Liebherr equipment, no matter where they are.”
The remaining machines to be supplied under the 2022 equipment deal include three additional PR 776 dozers as well as seven hydraulic excavators – three R 9250s, two R 9400s, and two R 9600s. These machines will be delivered throughout 2024, with one of the R 9600s and an R 9250 already under assembly.
