Product Quality Control ManagerNewport News, VA
The Product Quality Control Manager is responsible for coordinating and maintaining quality control processes at the factory (production, warehouse, incoming inspection), scheduling of product and process audits, analyzing the results, and giving feedback and guidance to the team.
The Product Quality Control manager ensures and assist in determining if materials, products, and/or processes are in accordance with specifications, supports commissioning assembly issue resolutions, coordinates factory containment and inspections, product audits; and manages audit closure activities for facility.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties:
- Manage nonconforming product and quality issues in the Nonconforming Report (NR) system.
- Effectively communicate product, process, and system non-conformances and escalate as needed, to the appropriate level of management.
- Supervise and review corrective actions in order to prevent re-occurrence.
- Prepare and present data for management review to aid in root cause analysis and solutions related to product failures, inspection, and improvement opportunities
- Functional understanding and the ability to perform problem-solving techniques.
- Ability to utilize statistical analysis of data to identify potential product or process downstream failures and implement preventive actions.
- Understanding of Measurements Systems Analysis (MSA) methods and applications.
- Work with stakeholders to improve manufacturing, measurements, and verification processes.
- Promote awareness of customer requirements, complaints, and concerns throughout the organization.
- Offer expertise and mentorship on company continuous improvement and Lean concepts, tools, and practices.
- Responsible for managing inbound, in-process and outbound inspection and product audit activities at the facility.
- Assist with new process improvement implementations; coordinate and manage inspection, processes, establish priorities and maximum usage of assigned resources.
- Provide guidance in development and revision of LPA and product audit questions and inspection characteristics providing emphasis on processes and product weaknesses.
- Ensure proper approval and documentation practices are followed.
- Lead special projects as assigned; complete and disseminate metric reports related to audit results and departmental performance indicators.
- Guide organization personnel through new practices, improvement initiatives and certifications.
- Prepare and present training as required to different levels of the organization.
- Ensures the staff follows the set processes and adheres to the best production practices and product
Supervisory Duties:
- Manages Direct Reports - 4 to 8.
- Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of Product Quality team.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance.
Competencies
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year college and 4 to 8 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- The candidate should have 2 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

Additional Requirements:
- Travel nationally and internationally up to 25%.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and passport.
