The Red Dot Award is regarded as one of the most prestigious international design competitions. The judging panel is made up of leading experts who look for the highest levels of creativity, innovation and product quality. The panel of experts changes annually, and the rigorous evaluation criteria are continually modified according to the latest developments concerning formal, technical, production-specific, societal, economic and ecological requirements. These criteria provide a framework for selecting the award winners in the various categories.
2014 has seen the largest judging panel in the history of the Red Dot Award: more than 40 international experts used their experience and design expertise to select the award winners over a three-day period.
On 7 July 2014, the awards will be officially presented in the Aalto Theatre in Essen, in front of more than 1,200 guests. The 2014 award winners in the ‘product design’ category include the Liebherr CBNPbs 3756 BlackSteel fridge-freezer in energy efficiency class A+++ and the integrated SBS 70I4 side-by-side fridge freezer, in energy efficiency class A++.
