Liebherr-Africa reaches 100th bucket milestone
Liebherr-Africa recently celebrated the manufacture of its 100th excavator bucket at the company’s production facility in Springs, South Africa. The bucket was installed onto an R 9400 excavator that was delivered to long-term customer, Tharisa Minerals.
The 100th bucket manufactured by Liebherr-Africa as a capacity of 19m2 and will be working in a platinum and chrome application.
Tailoring excavator buckets to suit customers’ needs is second nature for Liebherr-Africa’s fabrication team. The 17-person strong fabrication team has been manufacturing buckets for the local market since 2017. In the past few years, Liebherr-Africa has seen increased requests for new machines, new buckets and bucket repairs. But this highly skilled team is more than equipped to meet this demand.
‘It’s the skills and determination of our Liebherr-Africa employees that allow the fabrication department to succeed in every challenge,’ says Pieter Supra, welding workshop foreman, Liebherr-Africa.
First-class service
Liebherr-Africa’s fabrication department was recently awarded the highest possible rating within Liebherr Mining’s Service Excellence program – an internal quality assurance scheme that optimises and standardises best practices from all of the business’ sales and service companies. This recognition highlights the hard work and dedication of the team at the Springs facility.
‘We’re excited to continue providing this high standard of service to our customers,’ says Supra.
