The Warehouse Operations Manager coordinates, directs, and manages all activities for the warehouse operations. The Warehouse Operations Manager is expected to have proficiency in all areas of warehouse operations.

Responsibilities

  • Direct Warehouse Operations: Oversee all aspects of warehouse operations, including on-time receiving, put-away, picking, packing, shipping, and storage of all parts within the warehouse.
  • Develop and Implement KPIs: Create, maintain, and implement Warehouse Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure and enhance operational efficiency.
  • ERP and WMS Management: Ensure the proper use of the company's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and Warehouse Management System (WMS) for all warehousing and logistics functions.
  • Adapt Processes and Configuration: Modify warehouse processes and configurations to accommodate evolving product lines and advancements in technology (WMS).
  • Continuous Improvement: Analyze and collaborate with various departments to continually improve warehouse processes and procedures using LEAN methodologies.
  • Industry Knowledge: Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in warehouse logistics.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure all warehouse logistics activities comply with safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
  • Communication: Report progress, results, and challenges to senior management and stakeholders effectively.
  • 6S Program Management: Manage and maintain the 6S program (Safety, Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) to ensure a safe and organized warehouse environment.
  • Budget Management: Strive to keep costs within budget and monitor revenues and expenses to ensure sound fiscal responsibility.
  • Interdepartmental Coordination: Communicate effectively with other departments to meet customer deadlines.
  • Workload Analysis: Analyze warehouse workload to estimate required hours and manage overtime effectively.
  • Hazardous Materials: Oversee the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Supervisory Duties:
    • Manages Direct Reports, 2 – 4 Supervisors, and associates assigned to Warehouse Logistics to ensure the highest utilization of their time and resources in support of company goals and objectives.
    • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of Warehouse Logistics team.
    • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
    • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Competencies

  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university and 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Warehouse Operations Expertise
    • Inventory Management: Proficiency in managing inventory levels, including receiving, put-away, picking, packing, and shipping processes.
    • Warehouse Layout & Design: Ability to design and adapt warehouse layout to optimize space and workflow.
    • Equipment Proficiency: Familiarity with warehouse equipment and technologies (e.g., forklifts, conveyor systems).
  • Technological Proficiency
    • ERP Systems: In-depth knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems for managing warehouse operations.
    • WMS Expertise: Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) for tracking and optimizing warehouse activities.
    • Data Analysis: Ability to utilize data analytics tools for monitoring KPIs and making informed decisions.
  • Lean Methodologies & Continuous Improvement
    • Process Optimization: Skilled in applying LEAN methodologies to improve warehouse processes and reduce waste.
    • Change Management: Ability to adapt warehouse processes to evolving product lines and technology.
    • Performance Metrics: Capability to develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and improve warehouse efficiency.
  • Safety and Compliance
    • Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of safety, regulatory, and quality standards relevant to warehouse operations.
    • 6S Program Management: Experience in managing a 6S program to ensure a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
    • Hazardous Materials Handling: Proficiency in the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Leadership & Communication
    • Team Management: Ability to lead, motivate, and manage warehouse staff, including estimating hours worked and managing overtime.
    • Interdepartmental Communication: Strong communication skills to liaise with other departments and ensure deadlines are met.
    • Stakeholder Reporting: Ability to communicate progress, results, and challenges to senior management and stakeholders effectively.
  • Financial Management
    • Budget Management: Capability to manage warehouse costs and monitor revenues/expenses to maintain fiscal responsibility.
    • Cost Control: Skills in analyzing and controlling warehouse operational costs to stay within budget.
  • Adaptability and Industry Knowledge
    • Industry Trends: Staying informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in warehouse logistics.
    • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changes in product lines, technology, and market conditions.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and passport.
