Fast and efficient Liebherr hydraulic excavators renovate taxiway at Hamburg Airport

Things had to move quickly on Hamburg Airport's taxiway D1. After all, the interruption to flight operations on the affected taxiway had to be short-lived and the renovation work had to be carried out as quickly as possible. Just the right task for Liebherr’s hydraulic excavators. KEMNA BAU Andreae GmbH & Co KG relied on six Liebherr machines for the work, which were hired from Liebherr-Mietpartner GmbH. In addition to four wheeled excavators of the A 918, A 918 Compact and A 920 models, two R 920 Compact crawler excavators were also used. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of KEMNA BAU Andreae GmbH & Co KG and the perfect interaction of the Liebherr machines, the construction site was completed ahead of schedule.

Pioneering work in the quarry: Liebherr and STRABAG test hydrogen wheel loader

Together with STRABAG, Liebherr is taking important steps towards a decarbonised construction site. In a project that recently started at the Kanzelstein quarry in Gratkorn, STRABAG is testing Liebherr’s large hydrogen-powered wheel loader over a period of two years. Energie Steiermark will supply green hydrogen for its own hydrogen filling station at the quarry. The L 566 H wheel loader is the world’s first large wheel loader with a hydrogen engine.

A Challenging Application: Hollaus company puts Liebherr to the test in reservoir construction

Hollaus is an Austrian construction company renowned for its expertise founded on decades of experience and the application of the latest technology. The company equipment fleet is substantial and enables it to implement large, challenging construction projects in the Alpine region. Liebherr pressing ahead with phasing out fossil fuels and preparing solutions to decarbonise construction sites, gravel plants etc. The Liebherr plant in Bischofshofen celebrated two groundbreaking events: the presentation of the first large wheel loader with a hydrogen engine and the opening of the first hydrogen filling station in the state of Salzburg.
