From theory to practice

Marcel Steinhauser | Apprentice

During his training, he became familiar with many different departments and their tasks

Marcel Steinhauser is completing his training as a construction mechanic at Liebherr, and checked in detail beforehand what would be involved. For the aspiring mechanic, the practical relevance of his training at Liebherr is particularly important. One day per week is set aside for lessons at the vocational college. Marcel spends the rest of the time at Liebherr, putting his theoretical knowledge into practice. To give trainees a comprehensive insight into the Liebherr Group, regular trips to the different divisions’ sites are a fixed part of the training program. For the junior construction mechanic, it’s a real win!

A sense of community is important to us.

Marcel Steinhauser

“I was absolutely thrilled when I received the acceptance for training to become a construction mechanic. I compared several organisations offering training, but did not find better prospects anywhere else. Liebherr attaches great importance to developing its new recruits and junior talent. I am constantly learning something new and I can also try out new things.

In my dual study programme I am at college one day a week and then at work on the other days. This means that I can implement what I have learned in college in the company – a real advantage. After three years of training I have already worked in several departments. In Neu-Ulm, for example, I was taught about trailer pumps. I prepared the individual components and then assembled them. With my knowledge from school, I was able to understand everything much better.

We get along very well. A sense of community is important to us. You also benefit from this friendly work atmosphere during the training period. In addition, it gives me a good feeling to be part of a strong, well-known company that is active in high-tech industries such as aerospace. Our company outing to Liebherr-Aerospace Lindenberg GmbH conveyed this very well. I began to appreciate everything Liebherr does and that I work for a global company.”
