Three major Chinese airlines, Air China, China Southern and OTT Airlines (a subsidiary of China Eastern Airlines), received a COMAC ARJ21-700 aircraft each during a ceremony in Shanghai on June 28, 2020.
Dongfeng He, Chairman of COMAC, Yuerang Zhao, General Manager of COMAC as well as other high-ranking representatives attended the event and acknowledged the on-time delivery – especially during this difficult period of time of the Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.
The ARJ21 features Liebherr key technology on board: Liebherr-Aerospace supplies the integrated air management and landing gear system for the twin-engine regional jet.
The air management system has been developed and manufactured by Liebherr-Aerospace Toulouse SAS, Toulouse (France) and the landing gear system by Liebherr-Aerospace Lindenberg GmbH, Lindenberg (Germany).
Liebherr has solidified its presence in China to support COMAC in its ramped up production and delivery schedule for the ARJ21.
Liebherr China provides Final Assembly Line (FAL) support to ensure a smooth systems integration in the ARJ21 aircraft. The company is also providing customer services to all airlines operating the ARJ21 and runs a repair shop in Shanghai to perform e.g. MRO activities for components of the ARJ21 air management system.
Another very good example for Liebherr’s commitment is the joint venture called Liebherr LAMC Aviation (Changsha) Co., Ltd., which oversees the final assembly and delivery of the landing gear systems for the ARJ21.
The ARJ21 can carry up to 90 passengers on a distance of over 2.200 kilometers. Up to now, the regional jet fleet is operated on 50 different routes, serving 50 domestic airports in China and has transported more than 820,000 passengers.
