Telescopic cranes on crawler travel gear: Over terrain with a high load
The telescopic crawler cranes in the LTR series combine many of the benefits of all-terrain cranes and crawler cranes. The excellent manoeuvrability of the crawler travel gear enables LTR cranes to be used on any terrain.
And what’s more, the crawler travel gear means that unlike all-terrain cranes, no outriggers are required – which means an LTR can also be moved with the load on its hook.
The telescopic boom whose concept has been adopted from all-terrain cranes enables a wide range of radii to be achieved quickly and easily compared to conventional crawler cranes. And what's more, the boom can even be extended and retracted with a load on the hook.
These technical features mean that LTR cranes are enormously flexible in action. Frequent areas of use for them include prefabricated part assembly, long term use in the energy sector, auxiliary crane jobs for erecting wind turbines and even infrastructure projects.

The LTR 1060 telescopic crawler crane put its skills to the test carrying out tunnelling work on the Swiss Gornergrat railway, the second highest mountain railway in Europe. With technical support from the Liebherr specialists it navigated a route beset with gravel, bends, and enormous gradients. This enabled the telescopic crawler crane to demonstrate its off-road capabilities once again in extreme conditions.
