The best boom system for your next application
Our LR crawler cranes are suitable for a wide range of applications with their extremely variable boom system. Depending on your requirements the best combination for a lifting job can be assembled from our extensive modular boom kit.
All our boom systems are developed inhouse and thoroughly tested on our own test sites before released into the market.
And we keep developing our boom system portfolio every day - therefore we can assure you the perfect boom configuration for any possible lifting job you will have in the future.
Discover some boom configurations out of our large range of boom systems below and feel free to contact us for more information.

The parallel PowerBoom system is a pioneering development from Liebherr. The simple mechanical add-on system increases the load capacity of large crawler cranes by up to more than 50 percent.
The award-winning technology also delivers excellent value for money.
The lattice sections are installed parallel to each other at the bottom section of the lattice boom of the PowerBoom system. This drastically increases the stability not only in the direction of the load but also to the side. The load capacity of long boom systems in particular can be increased dramatically by the PowerBoom.
Operating with a luffing jib also allows massive load capacity increases to be achieved since the torsional moment is increased by the PowerBoom. This drastically extends the range of use of the crane.
The parallel boom system is currently available for LR 11000, LR 11350 and LR 13000 cranes.
The increase in load capacity has proved to be extremely effective on the compact LR 11000 crane. Components from the luffing jib are used for the PowerBoom in this case. This keeps the sections of the main boom available for a particularly powerful luffing jib.
The boom system with the designation SX was developed for our 750-tonne lattice boom cranes LR 1750/2 and LG 1750 for erecting the latest generation of wind turbines. Turbines with a hub height of up to 165 metres and component weights of up to 127 tonnes can be erected using the SX system.
Before, these capacity data were the exclusive domain of cranes in the 1000 tonne class or above.
The new SX system differs from previous boom systems by the fact that 3.5 metre wide lattice sections are used in the bottom area of the boom rather than sections measuring just 3 metres wide. The extended lattice sections increase the lateral stability of the boom and therefore deliver a higher load capacity.
Furthermore, the weight of the lattice sections has been reduced.
An additional increase in lifting capacity is achieved by a particularly innovative extension to the SX system: instead of 3.5 metre wide lattice sections, two lattice sections each 14 metres in length (SX2 system) or three lattice sections each 14 metres in length (SX3 system) with a width of 6 metres are installed in the lowest area of the main boom.
This provides additional rigidity to the boom system, thus increasing its load capacity.
In order to install the 6 metre wide lattice sections in the boom, there is an extension adapter from 3 metres to 6 metres on the pivot section for the turntable. At the top the width of 6 metres is reduced to 3.5 metres by a second adapter.
When designing this system extension, we’ve focused on ensuring it was highly economical. This means that crane operators only have to buy the 6 metre wide sections and the adapters in addition to the SX system.

- Fast assembly and disassembly
- Optimal tool when wind plays a role on the construction site
- Especially suitable for heavy loads
The compatible boom systems can be used for all product types. This offers more flexibility for fleet managers, simplifies logistics and reduces inventories.
The so called WV heavy duty jib is assembled using components of the luffing jib. It delivers enormous load capacities and is used when real muscles are required.
Proven technology focusing on safety
Our crawler crane boom systems have been proven in everyday use over decades. The focal point in our development is always the safety of the operating personnel and the crane operation.
Therefore we also design a whole range of safety equipment such as access ladders or safety line guiding systems to ensure this.
