Regel modernising its crane fleet with new Liebherr mobile crane LTM 1500-8.1
- Shorter approval procedures and faster availability of the crane thanks to removable telescopic boom
- Higher lifting capacities thanks to telescopic guying
- Fifth LTM 1500-8.1 in the Regel Group
Albert Regel GmbH was on the lookout for a new 500-tonne crane for its Germany-wide rental business. The specialist for heavy haulage, crane and assembly logistics is already operating two Liebherr mobile cranes of type LTM 1500-8.1 in its fleet. Besides good experience, the service provided by Liebherr played a crucial role in the purchase decision. The older of the two Liebherr 500-tonne cranes will be replaced by a new one. In comparison to the 14 year old crane, the new 8-axle machine comes with telescopic guying and the option of fully disassembling the telescopic boom.
The two Managing Partners Carsten Hildebrandt and Alexander Teifke came to the Liebherr production plant in Ehingen to take delivery of the new crane. Alexander Teifke explains: “We always had excellent experience with the LTM 1500-8.1 in the past. This is already the fifth crane of this class that we’re buying from Liebherr. We ordered the new 500-tonne crane with telescopic guying, in order to achieve the maximum lifting capacities for its future application field in wind energy – be this repair work, updates or repowering – as well as bridge building and in conventional industrial operations.” To be able to drive the crane economically and quickly despite bridges with reduced load strains, the 8-axle machine is equipped with a removable telescopic boom. “Owing to the load-bearing capacity of the bridges, the approved routes are sometimes twice as long as the direct route to the construction site. By disassembling the telescopic boom and reducing the total weight to below 60 tonnes, we’re hoping for shorter approval procedures and faster availability of the crane”, states Alexander Teifke, adding: “We opted to buy the LTM 1500-8.1 from Liebherr, as the service is unrivalled. Spare parts or a service technician are available ‘just in time’.”
The company including its subsidiaries currently employs around 150 people with sites in Baunatal, Kassel, Göttingen, Bad Hersfeld and Fulda. It provides a very wide range of services including mobile crane rental, heavy goods transport, industrial assembly and relocation work as well as the rental of forklift trucks and aerial work platforms. The group's fleet currently includes 40 mobile cranes with load capacities from 30 to 500 tonnes, 40 special transport vehicles with payloads of up to 80 tonnes and over 30 forklift trucks as well as a lifting frame with a load capacity of 400 tonnes.
