Next-level efficiency

The R 9300 is the second Generation 8 excavator launched within Liebherr’s product portfolio and builds on the original equipment manufacturer’s (OEM’s) decades of excavator design expertise in the mining industry. As a Generation 8 machine, the R 9300 comes fitted with the most advanced Liebherr mining technologies. These technologies provide increased operational performance and enable future product requirements such as automation and zero emission options.

The R 9300 was also designed to support greenhouse gas emission reduction targets. Liebherr’s proprietary engine and hydraulic management system – Liebherr Power Efficiency – comes as standard to reduce onsite fuel consumption. Further, the R 9300’s diesel engines are Tier 4 and Stage V compliant to adhere to strict international emissions standards and an electric power train is already in development.

Move more material using less fuel

Fuel efficiency

The R 9300 gets the most out of each fuel drop thanks to its unique hydraulic design combined with the Liebherr Power Efficiency system.

Fuel consumption

The R 9300 achieves 15% less fuel consumption than Liebherr’s previous model, thanks to Liebherr’s proprietary engine and hydraulic management system, Liebherr Power Efficiency.

Productivity

Higher productivity is the result of the R 9300’s lighter and stronger attachment, larger bucket capacity, optimal forces distribution, and fast cycle times.

Cost per tonne

The cost per tonne of the R 9300 is significantly reduced compared to R 9250, thanks to its optimised life cycle costs, vastly reduced fuel consumption, and better productivity.

State-of-the-art Liebherr technologies

The R 9300 is fitted with Liebherr Mining's most advanced innovations.

Liebherr Mining Assistance Systems

The R 9300 is compatible with Liebherr’s Assistance Systems. These are advanced onboard applications that help operators become more efficient by analysing live data to provide actionable ways to improve the performance of the machine. These Assistance Systems include:

  • Truck Loading Assistant
  • Performance Monitoring Assistant
  • Application Severity Assistant
  • Operational Conformance Assistant

Bucket Filling Assistant

Available for the R 9300, the Bucket Filling Assistant was the first automation product created as an optional feature for Liebherr’s hydraulic excavator portfolio. It combines two innovative functionalities – anti-stalling and semi-automatic bucket filling – to allow easier bucket filling with a consistent bucket fill factor, particularly in blocky or difficult digging conditions. Because of these features, the Bucket Filling Assistant can help improve excavator productivity while decreasing operator fatigue.

Features:

Anti-stalling:

The anti-stalling function prevents the excavator bucket from stalling in the digging face during the bucket filling cycle. When activated, the Bucket Filling Assistant automatically optimises attachment response to operator inputs when the system can sense that the bucket is starting to stall in the digging face.

Semi-automatic bucket filling:

The semi-automatic bucket filling function allows the operator to fill the excavator bucket by only using the left-hand joystick. Both the bucket and boom movements are piloted automatically by the system until the operator takes manual control.

Maximised machine productivity

Thanks to the innovative attachment design of the R 9300, the excavator helps to improve cost per tonne, maximise machine productivity, and improve component lifetime – redefining performance standards in the 250-tonne class.

High performance attachment

The intelligent design of components in the attachment reduces its weight, improves bucket protection, and increases digging forces.

The new Liebherr attachment solution provides best-in-class fatigue resistance and productivity in demanding mining applications. Liebherr engineers were able to install a bigger bucket on the R 9300 thanks to the hollow pins and aluminium covers on all attachment points, enabling enhanced onsite performance.

Liebherr Power Efficiency

Liebherr’s proprietary engine and hydraulic management system – Liebherr Power Efficiency (LPE) – comes as standard with the R 9300. With the LPE system, the excavator will only use the power and the hydraulic flow required for the task at hand, drastically reducing fuel consumption.

The LPE system:

  • Maximises hydraulic efficiency
  • Reduces both hydraulic throttling and load profile of the engine for increased component lifetime

Safety and serviceability

The R 9300 is fitted with an ergonomic hydraulically -controlled 45° stairway with handrails, providing safe access for technicians during inspections and maintenance.

The uppercarriage has been designed for easier maintenance and faster servicing. The central service area provides accessibility to uppercarriage fluid compartments to reduce machine downtime. Refill and separate drain points of the R 9300 are easily accessible from the ground with fast couplings and depressurised valves.

Machine lifetime: R 9300 vs R 9250

The service life of the R 9300 has increased by 33% over that of the R 9250 to improve reliability and reduce the cost of running the machine.

"Increasing the life of the R 9300 was one of the initial targets of this project ... Machine life is directly linked to the engine life. Today, modern engines consistently achieve 18,000 to 20,000 hours in operation before requiring overhaul. Therefore, increasing the service life of the whole R 9300 from 45,000 to 60,000 hours allows the lifespan of the machine to better align with engine service life."
