The Liebherr R 924 Crawler Excavator for Waste and Recycling Applications at Conexpo Con/Agg 2014
The R 924 crawler excavator revealed at Conexpo Con/Agg 2014 in Las Vegas (USA) is configured to work in transfer stations and recycling centers. This machine is equipped with purpose build guards that protect key impact areas like the undercarriage, hydraulic cylinders and the operator’s cab.
The waste and recycling build also comes standard with engine and cab pre-cleaners to reduce contamination of the engine oil and operator’s cab. This machine is equipped with a reversible fan to expel debris from the radiator core to maintain efficient cooling.
Equipped for high performance and reliabilty
The R 924 exhibited at Conexpo Con/Agg 2014 is equipped with a hydraulic cab, an 18’17” (5.9 m) gooseneck boom, a 9’10” (3.0 m) stick and an LC undercarriage with 30” (76 cm) track pads. This machine has an operating weight of 55,830 lb (25,324 kg), features a Liebherr diesel engine rated at 157 HP / 115 kW and it is fitted with a particulate filter with active regeneration for efficient exhaust gas purification in order to comply with the Tier 4i/ stage IIIB exhaust emission limits.
The R 924 features the integrated Liebherr excavator system technology for exceptionally smooth and quick operation. This technology is based on Positive Control hydraulics and a Liebherr electronic control system, making optimal use of the available energy for both individual and combined movements.
The high-strength steel structure of the new excavator has been optimized for top performance and a longer operating life. The X-shaped design improves stress distribution and promotes a longer service life. The sloping design of the undercarriage from the center section has led to a reduction of the time needed to clean debris from the undercarriage.
Efficient handling, extensive attachments
Easy, safe and efficient handling The R 924’s operator cab provides an extremely comfortable and spacious working environment. It comes standard with automatic air conditioning, Roll-Over Protection Structure (ROPS), air suspended and heated seats as well as ergonomically-arranged controls and an intuitive touch-screen display.
An extensive range of attachments and features have been developed to satisfy the constantly growing needs at construction sites. These include the standard LiDAT data transmission system for efficient machine fleet management and a rear-view camera that has been integrated into the counterweight as a standard feature for additional safety.
The upper carriage layout is entirely new and makes maintenance work safer and more efficient. Maintenance points have been brought together and can be easily reached from ground level via ‘gull-wing’ doors. This simplifies day-to-day maintenance and minimizes the need to climb upon the superstructure for general servicing. Visual checks on fluid levels and other items have been optimized, clearly laid out and easy to understand.
