Liebherr-France SAS has been producing crawler excavators here since 1961 for many different applications such as in demolition, digging tunnels, and slope construction. Due to fast growth and expansion of the product portfolio, a special company for mining excavators was separated out in 2011. Over 60 years of experience in production of crawler excavators
The decision to open a new manufacturing plant for crawler excavators at the Colmar location was trailblazing for Liebherr in the early 1960s: Since it was founded in 1961, Liebherr-France SAS has secured the Group's market share in France. The company was initially focused solely on hydraulic excavators for earthmoving activities, and over the years it has expanded its product portfolio and production capacities matching technical advances and developments in the markets.
Growth and specialization in Colmar
Special giant hydraulic excavators tailored to the mining industry were added to the product range when it was expanded. To meet the particular requirements of this division, Liebherr built a new plant for mining excavators in Colmar. Today, Liebherr-Mining Equipment Colmar SAS founded in 2011 is responsible for this product segment. Liebherr-France SAS has been concentrating since then on a well balanced range of crawler excavators as well as on special machines for special tasks.
