LTM 1750-9.1 in action in Cologne: balcony renovation at the Axa high-rise building

Once a showcase project and, at the planning stage, even Europe’s tallest residential building – the Axa high-rise on the banks of the Rhine in Cologne was completed in 1973 and still provides accommodation for around 1,000 people on 43 of its 45 floors. As the building’s exposed aggregate concrete balconies have been dilapidated for some time, they are now being removed and replaced. An LTM 1750-9.1 and, as an auxiliary crane, an LTM 1150-5.3 were brought in to prepare the work site. Find out more

Global Wind Projects and Global Crane Services expand their crane fleet with a Liebherr LG 1750

Global Wind Projects, a leading UK provider of crane and installation services for wind turbines, has joined forces with its sister company Global Crane Services to strengthen their joint crane fleet with a Liebherr LG 1750. The 750-tonne lattice boom mobile crane, which combines the performance of a crawler crane with the mobility of an all-terrain mobile crane, joins an LG 1750 and LR 1750 crawler crane, as well as over 60 mobile cranes with lifting capacities ranging from 25 to 750 tonnes in the Global fleet, and will help the company to meet growing demand from the wind industry in the UK and Ireland. Complete RL series from Liebherr equips one FLNG

As a leader in the monetisation of natural gas, the manufacturer Wison has decided to purchase five new RL series cranes. This investment is part of a natural gas liquefaction plant (FLNG) that has been under construction since early 2023. It is the largest FLNG plant to be built by the company to date and was commissioned by the Italian energy company Eni. The 380 m long and 60 m wide vessel will be anchored at a depth of 40 m off the coast of the Republic of Congo. Find out more

Liebherr crawler cranes build second largest wind farm in Switzerland

In an eight-week operation, two Liebherr crawler cranes from Emil Egger AG, based in St. Gallen, Switzerland, have erected the country's second largest wind farm. The six turbines now installed, manufactured by Enercon, are expected to produce 22 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually. An LR 11000 as well as an LR 1700-1.0 have completed the wind turbines, which are almost 140 metres high. Find out more

Liebherr LTM 1150-5.3 allows hotel to stay open during construction work

In Homburg, Saarland, the company Steil Kranarbeiten GmbH & Co KG has made it possible for the Schlossberg Hotel to stay open during construction work at the site by using a Liebherr LTM 1150-5.3 mobile crane. No other mobile crane in the required load class would have been compact enough to achieve this feat. Access to the hotel for guests, suppliers and, above all, emergency vehicles had to be guaranteed at all times. Find out more

Liebherr Transportation Systems (China) based in Pinghu, eastern China, has successfully obtained the EN15085-2 CL1 welding certificate (TÜV SÜD /15085/CL1/886/23/0). The company thus strengthens its design, production and repair capabilities regarding air-conditioning technology and hydraulic actuation systems for all types of rail vehicles developed and manufactured in China for the domestic and international railway market. Restored, not retired: Liebherr R 996 mining excavator overhauled for maximum service life

In late July, a fully refurbished R 996 excavator went to work at Yancoal’s Cameby Downs mine in Queensland, Australia. This machine had originally served at Yancoal’s Yarrabee mine for almost 13 years before the mining company made the decision to completely overhaul the machine. Find out more
