Manufacturing Engineer Intern - Summer 2025Newport News, VA
The Manufacturing Engineering Intern performs basic manufacturing engineering functions in support of current products and the development of equipment and processes for new products and improvements to the overall Product Delivery.
Responsibilities
- Works with the Manufacturing Engineering staff on projects outlined in the individualized intern training plan.
- Works independently and as a team member with other Engineers, Designers, and production personnel or on ad hoc projects.
Competencies
- Education and Experience: Current active student in good standing who has complete 60 hours towards a related Engineering Bachelor’s degree.
- Knowledge of 3D modeling, CAD drafting tools or drafting equipment and software.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Products including: Outlook, Project, Word, Excel, and Power Point.
- Knowledge of basic heavy equipment manufacturing processes, equipment, and work area requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance manuals, and procedure manuals.
- Judgment: Displays willingness to make decisions; Exhibits sound and accurate judgment; Supports and explains reasoning for decisions; Includes appropriate people in decision-making process; Makes timely decisions.
- Travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and passport.
- Ability to maintain Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) certification.
