New all-rounder joins the Kran Burgard fleet
- Kran Burgard GmbH describes the Liebherr LTM 1110-5.1 as powerful, versatile and economical.
- The Liebherr VarioBase®Plus system generates high lifting capacities and delivers greater safety and efficiency.
The brand new LTM 1110-5.1 from Liebherr is a genuine all-rounder. It has been a member of the Kran- und Bergungsdienst Kran Burgard fleet since July. The Hesse-based company is delighted with the flexibility of the 5-axle crane – the LTM 1110-5.1 features variable axle loads, high lifting capacities with part ballast and efficient set-up processes. This innovative new crane was first unveiled at the Bauma 2019 event. Deliveries of it to customers all over the world started in June this year.
“The LTM 1110-5.1 has replaced an LTM 1130-5.1 in our fleet. We decided on the 110 tonne machine because it includes the latest technical features and is very flexible in use”, explained Felix Burgard, Managing Director at Kran Burgard GmbH. The Liebherr VarioBase®Plus system plays a major role in this respect. The innovative combination of trapezoidal and variable supporting base generates additional capacity, particularly over the widened rear outriggers.
Felix Burgard also explained what he thought was particularly good about the new crane: “You can licence it with two permits. In other words, for a 48 tonne gross weight and an axle load below 10 tonnes or for a gross weight of 60 tonnes and an axle load of 12 tonnes. That enables us to react very quickly when we are planning a job.” The 60 tonne version enables the 5-axle crane to carry up to 13.1 tonnes of counterweight, which is a fantastic value in the 5-axle mobile crane class. It means that crane operators can complete the vast majority of crane jobs at low cost without having to transport additional ballast. “Furthermore, the ballast can be changed easily, which increases flexibility and enables us to complete jobs quickly”, said Felix Burgard, describing the benefits of Liebherr quick change system for the ballast slabs.
The LTM 1110-5.1 will have a very wide range of jobs to tackle at Kran- und Bergungsdienst Kran Burgard, as in addition to the assembly of houses, garages and pools, the company also intends to use the 110 tonne crane for truck recovery work. It is the largest of the six mobile cranes in the fleet of the company with a 35-strong workforce.
