NEW RAILWAY BRIDGE

Job report – the positioning system LIPOS supports Kelly drilling from a barge

900 replacement bore holes

The railway line over the Kattwyk Bridge at the Port of Hamburg received an additional, very similar, double-track lift bridge to increase the line capacity. Elaborate underwater foundation work was necessary for the two bridge foundations.

The clearing drillings on the Elbe riverbed were carried out by the drilling rig LB 36, which was equipped with the positioning system LIPOS for the first time.

Increase in line capacity

On the Süderelbe, the largest multifunctional lift bridge was extended by a separate railway bridge.

Data recording as quality proof

Comprehensive data recordings were made for the respective bored piles, which included process data and positions in addition to the machine data. These were sent via radio link from the machine to the site office via server. The automated reporting functioned as proof of the quality of the drilling work carried out.

Deployment on pontoon

More than 900 replacement boreholes were needed to work the Elbe bed (brine), the exact placement of which was only made possible by the use of the LIPOS positioning system.
