The latest generation PR 716 - a firm anchor for wind power
The BWR company in Schermbeck specialises in construction of wind turbines. A Liebherr Crawler Dozer is regularly used for development of the site and construction of the installation platform area along with the access roads and paths.
BWR GmbH was founded more than 25 years ago and has grown to a present-day team of 75 employees specialising in a number of sectors: from earthmoving and civil engineering to horticulture and landscaping. Through continuous growth, BWR GmbH has established itself as one of the most preferred suppliers for the construction of wind farm projects in Germany. Over the course of 25 years, the company has built up extensive expertise in earthworks and civil engineering in the private, public and commercial sectors.
The company has recently been involved in a large wind farm project including the construction of a 5.6 megawatt wind turbine. In development of the site, a Generation 8 PR 716 was used for construction of the installation platform area along with the access roads and paths. The choice of a Liebherr Crawler Dozer by the company is no coincidence. Efficient operation and high performance combined with maximum environmental friendliness are also critical factors in selection of the machinery used. The Crawler Dozer also gets top marks for versatility: it is ideal for use on any surface - whether on clay or sand. In addition, due to its compact size, it can easily be transported to almost all construction sites on a semi-low loader.
With such low fuel consumption and high thrust both at the same time, there is simply nothing on the market to match this Crawler Dozer.

As Mark explained, with the Assistance Systems, the gradient can be optimally adjusted and maintained allowing for creation of extremely precise access routes. Definition Grade significantly simplifies the process of creating water run-offs, saving both time and resources. Further advantages include the intuitive operation of the assistance systems and the high quality of the grading work. And in the words of the expert, they are an outstanding addition to modern machine controls.
The Liebherr Assistance Systems really show off their strengths in the forested areas, which are often found with wind farms. As site clearing work needs to be kept to a minimum, the machine almost always works at the tree line, where satellite reception is often disrupted. Adding to the difficulties of operation is the need for high precision and alignment when creating all the surface areas, such as the installation area for the crane. This is an ideal application case for Definition Grade. Fitted as standard ex works, it allows precise surfaces with defined longitudinal grade and cross slope to be created even without satellite support.
