Welding Engineer (Aerospace)Singapore
The position holder will be responsible for ensuring availability of all prerequisites and processes, enabling quality and integrity for the organisation’s welding processes. They will also sample/inspect production welds, conduct visual and dimensional inspections, and conduct auditing of welders, to ensure weld quality standards are met. They will also provide training to welders to hone their welding techniques and skills. This position involves supervisory responsibilities & requires strong technical expertise.
What You Can Expect of the Job
- You’ll review and approve welding and brazing procedures in accordance with applicable standards (e.g. AWS)
- You’ll verify welder qualification compliance with applicable procedures and standards for welding and brazing.
- You’ll, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, verify compliance with safety requirements and ensure adherence to safety protocols and best practices in the welding shop.
- You’ll provide guidance and support to welding personnel to ensure that welding activities are performed in accordance with industry standards and specifications.
- You’ll establish and maintain inspection reports and maintain accurate records of all welding/welding related activities.
- You’ll provide support to the welding team in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and corrective action on quality, performance, and cost challenges.
- You’ll provide directions and suggestions on continuous improvement efforts.
- You’ll, in collaboration with the Quality Management team, establish, implement, and monitor adequate quality control procedures.
- You’ll provide advice on all welding related matters to division management (GM).
- You’ll conduct Training Needs Analysis, perform on-the-job training, and make recommendations for training courses.
- Any other duties as assigned.
What We Expect of You
- Minimum 5 years of working experience in a welding shop environment, preferably in Aerospace MRO.
- Hold a valid certification as a Welding Inspector from the American Welding Society (AWS) or equivalent.
- Strong interpersonal skills in building, maintaining and motivating an effective team.
- Demonstrated excellent knowledge of welding processes and techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret welding procedures and specifications.
- Keeping oversight; and strong attention to detail (e.g. to identify defects, deficiencies deviations in welds).
- Pass and maintain AWS D17.1 welding qualification.
- Ability to solve practical problems and flexibility to deal with a variety of changing situations.
