Liduro Power Port gets into construction sites in France
- Liduro Power Port (LPO) is the new mobile energy storage solution developed by Liebherr
- An LPO 100 was used in France to power a 65 K.1 bottom-slewing crane on a construction site
- Connected to a 2 kW household socket, LPO 100 delivered power up to 26 kW
Liebherr Distribution et Service France has recently set up a Liduro Power Port, the new mobile energy storage solution developed within the Group. Last July, the LPO 100 has been implemented in France to power a 65 K.1 bottom-slewing crane rented for un month by Liebherr. For this project, Liebherr suggested CJ Bois to use Liduro to back up the grid, which did not offer enough power to supply its electric equipment.
Niederhergheim (France), October 2024 – Liebherr Distribution et Services France has set up a Liduro Power Port, the new mobile energy storage solution developed by Liebherr. Liduro was recently exhibited at Intermat Paris in April and has been available for sale in France since the second half of 2024. Liduro is intended to be available for rental in France within the coming few months.
Liduro uses lithium-ion technology to store energy and deliver it on demand to various electrical consumers. The Liduro range comprises five models with power ratings ranging from 39 to 156 kWh, which can be used as a 100% stand-alone battery or to back up a grid with insufficient power to supply the equipment being used. "Available for sale and very soon for rental, Liduro completes our commercial offering. It enables us to expand our service offering to our customers by providing a concrete response to the electrification of the construction sites and many other applications," comments Cyrille Prudhomme, business development manager at Liebherr Distribution and Services France.
Power on demand
CJ Bois, a company specialising in the manufacture and assembly of timber frames and frameworks, used Liduro (LPO 100) for the construction of a public access buildingin the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. On this site, the Liduro was recharged using a simple 220 V single-phase socket (16 A / 2 kW), which could then be used to power a type 65 K.1 bottom-slewing crane, on demand. It was also possible to connect a range of electro-portable tools directly to Liduro, such as frame screwdrivers requiring lots of power.
As it charges, Liduro gradually builds up energy in its lithium-ion batteries. The energy is then instantly recharged on demand to meet the punctual power requirements of up to 20 kW (63 A) on this site, particularly during the lifting of timber elements weighing between 800 and 1,200 kg.
More convenient, more virtuous
Mounted on a wheeled chassis and fitted with a drawbar, Liduro is quick and easy to set up. Also, there is no need for any special electrical installation to carry the necessary power to the site, such as the temporary overhead line required to op-erate a tower crane. "On this short operation lasting less than a month, using Liduro enabled us to avoid the administrative procedures involved in opening a temporary electric cabinet, which can sometimes be long and complex. On site job site, this is Liduro to instantly answer peak power demands from consumers," comments Christophe Chiampo, site manager at CJ Bois.
Liduro Power Port does not emit any CO2 or generate much noise. "We were very pleasantly surprised by how quiet it was throughout the worksite. Compared to an internal combustion engine generator, Liduro significantly improves our working conditions, and we feel less tired at the end of the day. It also facilitates communication on site, which contributes to staff safety," says the site manager at CJ Bois.
