Henneberger Schwerlast adds Liebherr LTM 1300-6.3 mobile crane to its fleet

  • The LTM 1300-6.3 is now the largest mobile crane in Henneberger’s fleet
  • 90-metre-long telescopic boom saves on setup time and transport
  • First assignment in a solar park

It is now the company’s most powerful mobile crane: Henneberger Schwerlast e.K., a crane and logistics contractor, has taken delivery of a Liebherr LTM 1300-6.3. The versatility of the 300-tonne crane and the exceptionally long telescopic boom of 90 metres were decisive factors in the choice of the company from Themar in southern Thuringia. The new crane was already able to demonstrate its impressive performance during its first job in Eisenach.

On its first mission, Henneberger’s new LTM 1300-6.3 installed a transformer station in a solar park in Eisenach.

For Henneberger, the decision to choose the Liebherr LTM 1300-6.3 marked its entry into the large crane class. Mario Henneberger, the second-generation owner of the family-run company, explains: “With the LTM 1300-6.3, we’re taking the step into the class of large telescopic mobile cranes. In our region, we are seeing demand for more lifting capacity and lifting height. The Liebherr 300-tonner is a multi-function crane with a very long boom that we are able to use with flexibility for all manner of scenarios on the market. In our local glass and bottle production industry in particular, the new crane allows us to achieve large radii beyond buildings and reach tremendous heights on the chimneys.

Record boom

The LTM 1300-6.3 is a versatile and economical fast-erecting crane with an unparalleled telescopic boom length: at 90 metres, it is significantly longer than any other 6-axle model on the market. It is also the longest boom of all mobile cranes that can be carried on the crane on public roads with a 12-tonne axle load. This makes it ideal for erecting tower cranes, electricity pylons and antennae as well as for wind turbine maintenance work. For Henneberger, the long telescopic boom offers tremendous advantages: “It saves additional transport and time, since in many situations we can dispense with the attachment of jibs. The LTM 1300-6.3 also offers high lifting capacities on a compact chassis with 6 axles. It is therefore a perfect crane for civil engineering and precast concrete component installation. On the construction site, it can be implemented with very little setup work, which also saves time and money.

Proven prowess on its very first job

The first crane job for the LTM 1300-6.3 took it to a solar park in Eisenach. There, it was used to install a transformer station weighing 40 tonnes with a radius of 17 metres. The crane’s location was a real challenge: it was not possible to fully block off the road since it was a cul-de-sac that provided access to neighbouring industrial companies. So the outrigger width for the crane was just six metres. Thanks to the VarioBase® support base, the 300-tonner was able to be set up with a reduced outrigger base and the lifting carried out safely and efficiently.

All of Henneberger’s mobile cranes are from Liebherr. “The new crane fits in seamlessly with our fleet because Liebherr mobile cranes have a standardised operating concept. And that’s only available from Liebherr”, says the company owner.
