Fangmann adds Liebherr LTM 1130-5.1 mobile crane to its fleet

  • LTM 1130-5.1 with 60 metre telescopic boom delivers high performance and flexibility
  • Greater safety and performance with Liebherr VarioBase®
  • The Fangmann Group is a full service partner for technical projects

Fangmann Industrie GmbH Co. KG took delivery of an LTM 1130-5.1 mobile crane at the Liebherr plant in Ehingen at the end of February. The 130-tonner on its five-axle chassis will extend and strengthen the company's fleet which previously only included mobile cranes with a load capacity of up to 100 tonnes.

The new crane is the company's first 5-axle machine. Fangmann decided to buy the Liebherr LTM 1130-5.1 due to increased customer demands on the performance of mobile cranes. The new machine is now the largest crane in the Altmark region (Saxony-Anhalt) and Priegnitz (Brandenburg).

The crude oil and natural gas industry has been a major customer for Fangmann for many years. The requirements relating to the weight of the system components which must be hoisted and on safety are particularly high in this sector. Boom length and capacity were major reasons behind the purchase of the Liebherr LTM 1130-5.1 mobile crane. Nico Macht, Operations Manager at Fangmann, explained: “The LTM 1130-5.1 with its 60 metre telescopic boom is a powerful 130-tonne machine which offers great flexibility. And its variable support base VarioBase provides additional safety and flexibility because space is often very constricted in plants and on sites and there are only very small spaces available for cranes.”

The variable support base developed by Liebherr is a unique system which enables each crane support to be extended by an arbitrary distance. The load moment limiter within the LICCON controller ensures that the crane can operate safely. This prevents accidents by human error during both the setup and when hoisting loads. VarioBase also increases load capacities and extends the operating range.

With its headquarters in Salzwedel and a branch in Perleberg Fangmann Industrie GmbH Co. KG operates a fleet of seven mobile cranes and twenty semi-trailers. It is part of the Fangmann Group of Companies with a workforce of around 200 people. The Fangmann Group is a full service provider for technical projects – from mechanical and plant engineering and automation to an extensive range of services including planning, installation, inspections and maintenance work. In its “Oilfield Services” Division, Fangmann provides a range of services from the preparation and completion to the evaluation of work on natural gas, crude oil, geothermal and underground storage sensors.
