Due to long leaders or lattice booms relatively high changes in the machine’s centre of gravity can occur quickly if the outreach changes, the load is moved or the uppercarriage is swung. These changes in the centre of gravity also lead to changes in the ground pressure distribution under the crawlers, and this is often limited. This is where the ground pressure assistant steps in and so dangerous accidents can be avoided.
It can happen quicker than you think
On jobsites, the working area under the crawlers can only absorb a limited amount of pressure. This can lead to subsidence if the ground bearing capacity is exceeded, and can consequently lead to the machine tipping.
Zero accidents
The ground pressure assistant constantly measures the exact position of all moving parts. In addition, it records pull forces on the winches. In respect of the weight of all components, the collective centre of gravity, the load moments, and the ground pressure distribution under the crawlers are calculated in real time.
Display on the control monitor
Machine centre of gravity and ground pressure are displayed on the control monitor so that the operator can avoid dangerous situations. It is also possible to enter a maximum permissible ground pressure as threshold level. When this level is approached the operator receives a warning about the imminent dangerous load situation.

Ground pressure distribution
The system also displays the ground pressure distribution under the crawlers, as well as the centre of gravity for each change in position or load (according to EN standard or FPS).
