Hannover Messe 2018: Liebherr presents the MDC3 mobile digital camera
- High-resolution image sensor
- Integrated Ethernet switch
- Broad mobile field of use
Liebherr presents the new MDC3 mobile digital camera in April, at Hannover Messe 2018. The central focus is on the comprehensive sensor functions, which open up a wide range of applications.
The 3rd-generation mobile digital camera from Liebherr complies, like its predecessors, with the highest protection rating IP6K9K. This makes the MDC3 ideal for demanding deployments in mobile machinery: from agricultural machines, through construction machinery to material handlers.
High-resolution image sensor
The MDC3 delivers high-resolution images in 1,280 x 960-pixel format and is equipped with comprehensive sensor functions. The camera recognises movements in the field of view and can determine movement vectors. Based on this optical flow, it is possible to predict the direction, in which objects are moving and their speed.
The new digital camera also delivers edge images. This edge detection function also makes the MDC3 ideally suited as an image sensor in environment recognition systems, thus enhancing the operational safety of mobile machinery.
The integrated HDR (High Dynamic Range) function ensures that even in poor lighting conditions important image details remain available: high-contrast images without over or underexposure. This also guarantees complete sensor functionality even in changeable environmental conditions.
Integrated Ethernet switch
Thanks to an integrated Ethernet switch, the MDC3 has an additional Ethernet connection. This means that the OEM can link up any number of cameras in series. For the integration of the cameras in the machine's control system only one Ethernet connection is required. This reduces the outlay on wiring.
Wide range of applications
Whether in place of a mirror, for monitoring critical areas or for obstacle recognition, the MDC3 is multi-talented in the mobile domain. As well as its robustness, its comprehensive sensor capabilities also make it particularly suitable for a wide range of applications. This offers ample liberty for the ideas of the machine manufacturer.
Many years of experience
For ten years, Liebherr has been developing and manufacturing mobile digital cameras, which reliably deliver high-resolution images even in extreme environmental conditions. Tens of thousands of Liebherr cameras are in daily use worldwide, to ensure smooth work processes – for example, on construction sites and on ports.
Liebherr presents the new MDC3 mobile digital camera for the first time in April, at Hannover Messe 2018 (Hall 23, Stand B48).
