Liebherr connects

One country, two continents

Due to its unique location between Europe and Asia, Türkiye is considered one of the most important transit countries for logistics. And while companies benefit hugely from its well-developed transport infrastructure, be it by land, sea or air, locals and tourists also make the most of the sophisticated transport system across this large and diverse country, which covers some 783,562km².

Türkiye: A multi-faceted country

Bridge between continents

Construction project with two 357 HC-L tower cranes at 318 meters

We went on a journey through multi-faceted Türkiye. Besides the country and its people, we discovered a range of exciting and influential infrastructure projects. Our route initially took us by car ferry from the European to the Asian side of Türkiye, where the 1915 Canakkale Bridge construction project was in its final phase.

For a long time, its highest point (at 318m) had been marked by two tower cranes. The longest suspension bridge in the world, which connects the European side with the Asian side of Türkiye, was on the one hand a very special assignment for our service technician Engin Dalman, but on the other hand as routine as ever.

A question of connection

Underground construction with deep foundation machines

Bursa is not only the birthplace of the Iksender kebap in Türkiye, but is also getting a new metro line. For project manager Hakan Tek, this is a very special project, because the new connection is to provide even easier and faster access to the city's hospital. For this, Taşyapı Construction naturally relies on deep foundation machines from Liebherr.

Energy source: water

Construction of the third highest dam in the world

Another such fleet is also required for the dam project at Artvin in the mountainous highlands of northeastern Türkiye. A total of ten dams will be built here, with the aim of supplying electricity for around 650,000 households. The hydroelectric power station will generate energy from the Coruh River. Deputy project manager Sancak Kurt himself calls the project the nirvana of his engineering life.

White gold

Two XPower wheel loaders in operation at the Tuz Gölu salt lake

We needed sunglasses for our final stop. Yusuf Sinan Doğan's workplace is a breathtaking sight. As far as the eye can see, it glistens white. The Tuz Gölu salt lake, operated by the Koyuncu Group Company, is located in central Anatolia, in the middle of the provinces of Ankara, Konya and Aksaray. With a size of 3,500 km², it covers around 60% of the salt production in Türkiye. And the two Liebherr XPower wheel loaders come into contact with every single grain of salt.
