Kästli Bau AG takes delivery of its new Liebherr R 945 crawler excavator at Bauma 2025
During Bauma, the family-run Swiss company Kästli Bau AG was handed the keys to its new R 945 crawler excavator. In collaboration with the Liebherr Application Center, the machine weighing almost 52 tonnes was custom-equipped for use in demolition work. The R 945 painted in Kästli’s red livery will shortly be put to use in earthmoving and selective demolition work.

Daniel Kästli, Chairman of the Board of Directors: “The Liebherr R 945 - 52 tons of state-of-the-art technology in Kästli red. We can hardly wait for it to start working for us.”
Kästli opted for a bespoke Liebherr R 945, which was customised before it left the factory so that it would fully match the company’s requirements. The desired modifications included, among others, carriage width hydraulically adjustable from the operator's cab for easier transport, a vertically adjustable boom eight metres in length and thus longer in comparison with the standard model, and a three-metre extension for the working attachment to reach a greater working height. For improved efficiency when using the working attachment, the machine also features an extra hydraulic circuit. Another area of the machine that has been extensively modified is the operator's cab. Specially adapted for demolition work, it can swivel 30° upwards and has been fitted with ROPS (rollover protective structure).
All modifications were carried out by the Liebherr Application Center, a multidisciplinary team within Liebherr France SAS that creates custom-made products in response to customer requests. The team’s goal is to offer solutions that fulfil customers’ specific requirements. Before custom-made products leave the crawler excavator production facility in Colmar (France), they are carefully tested.
Custom solutions offer customers numerous benefits, for example compliance with transport requirements right from the development stage along with high availability of spare parts. The design features and adaptability of the standard product ranges enable guaranteed CE marking and custom modifications in original manufacturer quality.
