Leveling actuator
Liebherr-Transportation Systems GmbH & Co KG, Korneuburg (Austria) has received an order from CRRC Sifang America, Inc., which has its headquarters in Chicago Illinois (USA), for the development and delivery of 400 hydraulic level control systems. These are expected to come into operation in 2020, in the Chicago Transit Authority’s (CTA) modernized 7000 series urban rail vehicles. They will initially replace the 2600 series vehicles there, which currently travel on the blue and orange lines that connect both airports with downtown Chicago.
The level control system adjusts the vehicle’s floor to the height level of the platform at the stations, enabling a barrier-free boarding and disembarking for passengers with reduced mobility.
