Liebherr-Aerospace Overhauls Landing Gear Systems of TAME’s Embraer E190 Fleet

TAME (TAME EP Linea Aerea del Ecuador), Ecuador’s flag carrier and largest airline based in Quito, selected Liebherr-Aerospace to overhaul the landing gear systems of their fleet of Embraer E190 aircraft.

The overhauls are currently being performed at Liebherr Aerospace Saline Inc., Liebherr-Aerospace’s service center in Saline, Michigan (USA). As the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and system integrator of the Embraer E190 landing gear system, the company provided TAME with advance exchange gear sets. The airline’s E190s will be flying with these landing gear systems for the next flight cycles, that is until the subsequent overhaul is due. The systems being serviced at the Saline site will be rotated into Liebherr’s Global Access Pool and will be used in the future to support customers that place orders for overhauls with Liebherr.

TAME’s E190 aircraft were reaching the time between overhaul, which had been set at currently 20,000 flight cycles or 10 calendar years by the Maintenance Review Board. After this large a number of cycles, the overhauls will give valuable insight into the operating performance of the E190 landing gear system. Liebherr-Aerospace will consequently be able to further enhance engineering and logistics for the large volume of overhauls of this system to be accomplished in the next coming years.
