“A Liebherr is always a good choice” – Bruns takes delivery of LTM 1130-5.1 mobile crane

  • Highly flexible and ready to start work quickly: Liebherr mobile crane LTM 1130-5.1 impresses
  • Bruns has good experience with Liebherr 130-tonne crane
  • Long-standing partnership between Bruns and Liebherr

Bruns Schwerlast GmbH from Suelzetal near Magdeburg (Germany) has received a Liebherr LTM 1130-5.1 mobile crane. The new crane will replace an LTM 1100-5.2. The wide application field of the 130-tonne crane and positive experience with an LTM 1130.5.1, which the company had purchased in 2008, were crucial factors in favour of the purchase.

“We were looking for a flexible crane to fill the gap between our LTM 1100-4.2 model and a 5-axle 220-tonne crane, as we have a high level of customer demand in this crane size. As we already had good experience with an LTM 1130-5.1, we opted for this model again”, declares Managing Director Frank Bruns.

Bruns also cites the wide application field of the LTM 1130-5.1 as an important reason behind the decision. The 130-tonne crane attains hoisting heights up to 91 metres and radii up to 72 metres with its 60-metre telescopic boom and lattice fly jib.

This means the crane is ready to start work once it reaches the site. It can travel on public roads within 60 tonnes total weight with 6.6 tonnes ballast, double folding jib and hook block. This allows it to cover a wide range of applications without additional ballast transport.

Bruns cites industrial assembly, precast concrete parts installation with the second winch, the construction of high-voltage masts, tower crane and antenna erection as the main fields of application for the new Liebherr crane.

Bruns Schwerlast GmbH currently operates five Liebherr mobile cranes. A sixth one will join the fleet shortly. A new LTM 1230-5.1 with 75-metre telescopic boom is already part of Bruns’ planning. True to the company motto “Quality before quantity” though, there is no intention to go beyond the present number of ten mobile cranes. This also ties in with the fact that Bruns handed over its site in Hildesheim to BKL last year. “A win-win situation for everyone involved”, states Bruns.

Bruns enjoys a long term partnership with Liebherr: “A Liebherr is always a good choice. We’ve achieved good results with the products and always receive excellent service from the Liebherr staff. Plus the spare parts supply is excellent”, declares Frank Bruns. Although the company was founded in 1991, it still took seven years before opting for a Liebherr: Bruns ordered an LTM 1030-2.1 in 1998, the very first mobile crane with databus technology. Liebherr had presented the model at the Bauma that same year.

Besides crane work, the company with meanwhile 30 employees is also specialised in transporting heavy goods up to 65 tonnes, such as concrete parts, construction machinery and everything beyond the range of a standard truck.
