Since the beginning of 2014, Liebherr-Components Kirchdorf GmbH, Germany, has been responsible for hydraulic cylinders within the Liebherr group. The activities in this product sector were previously carried out by Liebherr-Hydraulikbagger GmbH, Kirchdorf an der Iller, which will now concentrate on wheeled excavators, machines for industrial applications and mining trucks.
Liebherr-Components Kirchdorf GmbH is part of the components division of the group. Liebherr-Hydraulikbagger GmbH remains part of the earthmoving division.
The aim of sourcing these activities to a legally separate company is to optimise the outlook for growth in both components and construction/industrial machinery at Kirchdorf. The two companies are clearly distinct in terms of their operational units, such as product development, procurement and sales.
With this restructuring, Liebherr is following the principle of creating manageable business units that operate independently and can react flexibly to market signals and economic developments within the global competition. This is a concept that has been successful many times in the company’s history, most recently when Liebherr-Werk Biberach GmbH was split into Liebherr-Werk Biberach GmbH and Liebherr-Components Biberach GmbH in early 2012.
