In conversation with Miguel Cisneros, General Manager, Mexico: New site opened in Querétaro

Our new site in Querétaro, Mexico was officially opened in April 2024. Today, we are talking to our colleague Miguel Cisneros, General Manager in Querétaro. After graduating as a mechanical engineer, he started his career in the maintenance department at the Coca-Cola Company in Mexico. He then became Head of the maintenance department at TREMEC, a company specializing in the manufacture of gears. In this conversation, we find out how Miguel found the opening of the site and what tasks he performs on a daily basis, and we take a look ahead at future developments.

You have been working at Liebherr for just under a year and you are managing our new site in Mexico. How would you summarize your experience so far?

The first year has flown by, and I have felt very comfortable here right from the start. I really enjoy being part of this dedicated team and company and I value the opportunities for development and the support I have experienced here. I look forward to continuing to play my part and celebrating successes together.

What are your current tasks and responsibilities at Liebherr?

Liebherr hired me to build-up the presence of Liebherr Gear Technologies Inc. in Mexico. My initial duties included setting up a local site and letting our customers know that we were now directly on site. I am currently working on maintaining the close relationship with our existing customers, and on winning new customers.

It is important to me that our customers receive professional advice from us.

The branch in Mexico is currently being set up, what does your typical day look like?

First and foremost, I am in constant contact with our customers and regularly visit them on site, so that I can better understand their needs and future projects. I follow the progress of ongoing projects and handle their queries. In all of this, I of course have the support of my colleagues in Saline and Kempten. I am also actively looking for new business opportunities in the Mexican market, to further expand our growth and presence.

What advantages does the site in Querétaro offer for Mexican customers?

The biggest advantage for our customers is the proximity, immediately availability and ability to communicate in their mother tongue that the new office in Mexico offers. Our local presence means that we can cater to their needs faster and in a more targeted way, whether it be customer support, technical support or services. We are also able to respond better to local market requirements and offer tailored solutions. In this way, we are reinforcing cooperation and ensuring that our customers receive the best possible support.

Which services and products do you offer? How does this differ from the site in Saline or the head office in Kempten?

We offer our customers in Mexico a comprehensive service, including spare parts supply and on-site training, just like in Saline. However, the gear cutting and gear inspection machines and the automation systems are still produced at the headquarters in Kempten. Our goal is to build a strong team with our Mexican employees so that together we can ensure that Liebherr in Mexico grows and remains competitive on the market.

Let’s take a journey into the future: Ideally, how will the site in Querétaro look in 5 years?

Over the next five years, I see our branch becoming an outstanding site that offers machines, training and testing. We are striving to build a strong and engaged team to help us achieve our goals and continuously grow the company. Our goal is to consolidate our market position and offer our customers a first-class service.

How important is it for you to work together with the existing teams and the head office, and how do you plan to do that?

I believe this is a decisive factor in successfully achieving our goals. I can see that the departments in Saline and Kempten have excellent cooperation skills and work very well as a team. This cooperation not only promotes the exchange of ideas and best practices but also helps to quickly overcome challenges. A strong team is essential for realizing our ambitions and ensuring that we are working together toward the goals we have set.

What makes working at Liebherr special for you?

For me, it is really important and special to be a part of Liebherr because the company is fully family-owned. This creates a unique corporate culture characterized by trust and stability. At Liebherr, you can feel a strong spirit of cohesion and teamwork, which allows us to work together on solutions and on achieving our goals. It’s inspiring to work in an environment where the values of cooperation and mutual support are so strongly anchored. That motivates me to give my best every day.
